SUNY Albany vs Uni of Syracuse

I am trying to decide from these two, which I got a few years to think about it, but what do you think is better personally? I think I already have my mind set on SUNY Albany, because it is wayyyyy less expensive, last year Syracuse tuition was at 23,000 a year, and now it jumped up to like 38,000 a year I believe, which is way too much, atleast 23,000 a year sounded reasonable, 38,000 is like Harvard level, I know at Syracuse I'd get a better education but there's no way I'd be able to swing it, but just for the fun of it, which is a better school in your eyes? SUNY Albany or University of Syracuse.

By the way, I am either planning on going the mechanical engineering route if I ever was to go to Syracuse, but if I went to SUNY Albany, I'd probably go with business administration and get my MBA, after college I'd like to start my own business, and hopefully I could get advice from my uncles, as they are both very successful owners of their own companies, and make into the millions, not bragging but its true, and I know one of them went to college for computer science or something like that, and it didn't even help him with business, and look where he is today, I guess you just need ideas and dedication to really become successful, not just a degree.

I’d go with SUNY unless your parents can afford Syracuse.

I agree – don’t go to Syracuse unless your family can afford it. And there are a number of fine SUNY schools that do have engineering if that is what you want to study (Stony Brook, Buffalo, Binghamnton to name a few) so you may want to consider expanding your search of SUNY schools.

I think if I was to take up mechanical engineering then, I’d probably go to binghamnton, another thing I was looking into is the new nanoscale engineering that SUNY albany has, not sure what to really think about it though

I’ve heard it’s better not to focus on nano E until post graduate years. My GC recommends to for something with a solid reputation and track record.
