I was really happy when I got into UB which was my first choice and was really excited to go there until I got into Binghamton. The thing is that I did not expect that Bing would accept me due to my low SAT score (1660). I was really surprised and decided to go there.

But now, I am confuse. According to stats, Bing is the most selective SUNY University. Yet, it does not appear on the Times Higher Ranking for top worldwide universities, while UB is ranked at 176.
Also, bing does not seem to have a good social life according to this forum. Apparently it is difficult to make friends, the surrounding area is boring and campus is 'ugly'.

I am unsure about which university I should go to especially as an international student. I am waiting on some other responses but I am unlikely to go to these due to their high cost.

I am interested in studying business or economics. I applied for binghamton harpur college because I wanna do a BSc in econ. But the school of management seems to have a better rep and it will be difficult for me to get into.
If I do go to UB, I will go for business administration.

Please help! I am very confuse!
UB or BU??
Which one will open more doors in the employment world?? Which one has better reputation among employers? Any advice??

Although I don’t care for rankings of any sort, the ones you reference are really peculiar. No idea why SUNY BIng isn’t on there, as it has a much better reputation than UBuffalo. My guess is that you are being accepted with lower SAT scores because they need full paying students, students who will be paying much more than a NY State resident.

Yea I figured that out. Yet, wont it be bad for the reputation of the school? My cambridge O-levels and A-levels do make an equivalent of a 3.9 GPA though.

Is binghamton actually recognise in and out of NYS?

As far as I know, internationals pay the same $10k more than any other out-of-state student (as compared to NYS students), and a relative bargain as out-of-state publics go. Same price for UB and BU.

Binghamton is not an ugly campus, not so different from Buffalo. The city of Binghamton itself is not much to look at but the campus is in the burbs and the surrounding areas not so bad. And it’s much, much closer to NYC–3 hours on the bus. Plenty to do on both campuses. Academically, Bing is rated higher. I’d say that the dorms at Bing are nicer, with many new and renovated buildings and opportunities to live in suites. And there are lots of apartments to rent off-campus that are cheaper than the dorms and not far away, after freshman year.

Thank you!
Yes, out of state tuition is like $10k more.

But how about after college? Where will a degree from Bing’s harpur college get me? If I work for it, will it get me the same opportunities as a degree from, say, Boston Uni? The fact that I didnt see the school listed on the Times Higher Rankings got me worried.

Bing. School of Management has an excellent reputation, as does Harpur for academics. I am under the impression that it’s not impossible to transfer from Harpur to School of Management if you have good grades. But perhaps you could check up on that.
