Haven’t been following this thread (and I’m a bit too intimidated by all the activity to go backward), but has anyone heard about the Binghamton Scholars invites yet? I heard invites were supposed to start coming in December. None of my friends have heard anything. I was accepted on the very first night of in-state decisions, so I hope that’s a good sign!
@writergirl0316 the website says invites start in January. I was also curious if it’s sooner.
@youngbull667 he got rejected not deferred ?
does anyone know anyone whos been rejected?
Just wanted to pass along my son’s acceptance into Watson for Comp Sci. I’m a little surprised he wan’t deferred, but very happy with the result.
His stats:
GPA: 3.65 UW
Rank: 116/367 - Ranking based on unweighted GPA
SAT: 680 Math 670 English
ACT: 27 (But with a 31 in Science)
Rigor: 3 AP 12th, Mostly honors classes and a few university programs - Spanish, Social Studies
EC: 1 Varsity Sport, Community choir and drama programs, Summer job that lasted through half of 11th grade.
He was also accepted to Buffalo on EA.
I figured he would be deferred to regular admission and possibly be wait listed. However accepted on EA and we got a pretty early decision. Of course, I am very happy with the result since Bing was first choice.
4 years ago, his older brother was deferred and offered Bing advantage which he didn’t accept. But his stats were lower.
Good luck to all the others waiting. I know how stressful it can be waiting for the decision.
Thanks for the update @millsdude! Are you in-state?
Does anyone know if there should be a big wave of decision notifications sometime this week? I was looking at last year’s thread and saw that 12/14/16 was when a lot of people heard? I was hoping to hear from Binghamton already. Hopefully, I can hear from them this week!
That’s what we all hope @cls2022 ! 7:15PM crunch time for the remaining hopefuls…
What is the Bing advantage your other son was offered?
Has anyone heard back tonight? No news here. I think my D will be rejected or deferred but I guess no news is good news!
Bing hasn’t released on Mondays so far. Tomorrow…
Does anyone have any idea on when all the acceptance/ denial letters will be sent? all of my friends have heard back from Binghamton, some of them have gotten denied, but also, a lot of them have gotten accepted. I emailed them and they said by the 15th of January, but I can see them waiting this long…
if anyone has heard anything, please reply!
Thanks!
Official date is 15 January and that’s the date the school will stick with whenever someone asks. I suspect they should be done sooner since they’ve added some extra time to account for certain unanticipated issues. I would think most of us will know before 31/12.
I got my acceptance letter in the mail today.
I have a 3.1 W GPA and got a 1340 on the SAT. I’m applying as a Philosophy major in-state and somehow haven’t been rejected, deferred, or accepted yet. I don’t know what to make of this, but I guess some of us just have to wait longer than others to hear back.
This is a rather nerve-racking way to send letters
@WilliamNYC Yes, we are in-state, lower hudson valley.
@michiganone Binghamton advantage is a program offered where students live on-campus but attend classes at Broome County Community College off-campus. If they “do well”, then they are guaranteed acceptance to the university. I’m not sure of the exact requirements of “do well” and for how long. I’ve read on this forum that the average is for 1 year and maintain 3.0 GPA or better. I’ve read that some students can be moved after 1st semester with better grades. I think we got the offer from Bing Advantage right before the April 1st deadline in 2014.
Just for comparison, his stats were 89.5 GPA, 1260 SAT (640 M, 620 CR). We knew Bing was a long shot, he wrote a letter to admissions sometime in late Feb about Bing being his #1 school. I think that may have tipped the Bing Advantage offer, but we declined it. He accepted a decent offer from Rowan for engineering.
has anyone heard back today?
i’ve been anxiously following this thread and i decided i should probably contribute. i think i might get waitlisted or deferred, but i’m hopeful
93 uw
1360 SAT
32/150 uw
not many EC. i come from a really small school and there wasn’t much available. i did NHS, Spanish honor society, drama, GSA, and was a founder of a girls group at my school. i’m currently enrolled in 4 college classes and will graduate with 30 college credits from suny ulster. other people in my school have gotten accepted. i live in the hudson valley. i’m hopeful!!!
@JoeVes People tend to hear back around 7:15 - 7:30pm. I’m hoping today or tomorrow will be a big decision release day. But I can only hope for the best.
