SUNY Binghamton Class of 2022

We have not heard from Watson either

We heard from BING early decision on Nov 30th, with a scholarship. We are out of state, so was shocked to be granted merit aid,but I agree with above comments that they are looking at stats–GPA and ACT/SATs. My son’s GPA was just OK (3.7UW) but his ACT (33, but strong in English (35) and Math (35) and Writing (12/12) and SAT (1500) were solid. He also had ECs, 3 Varsity sports, and well-rounded resume, but not a super star by any means. Well-written essay but nothing earth-shattering. We were totally shocked to receive $40K in merit aid.

not sure if this has already been answered but scholars invites come out in jan. right?

Congrats @LKWENDEL! Stateschools use Merritt aid to attract OoS students they like. To give them a break on the higher OoS tuition and to enrich the class with interesting people from outside of NY!

Bing is my first choice in college but I don’t know if I should apply or get accepted with my grades, I’m applying to the Harpur College
I am currently attending a dual mission school for the Arts ( both academics and two hours of art)

GPA: 96.7 W
SAT: 1280 ( very low I know )

2 years of Key Club (volunteer service)
1 year participating in an internship
1-year of teaching kids art
1 year and counting working a job ( 26 hours per week)
4 years of volunteer and service at my Church

Hey guys,
I’ve been posting on here for a few weeks and anxiously waiting with everyone for decisions.

Congrats to everyone else who got accepted and best of luck to those who are still waiting!

@WilliamNYC

@margarett my two friends who I mentioned in a previous post are still waiting. one has less activites than me but is a strong writer and has more AP classes and a higher gpa (1530 SAT!!)
The other friend has more activites than me, very very similar leadship positions, and a slightler higher gpa (1420 SAT)

Thanks @violingirl20. You deserve your acceptance for sure! Best of luck next year and beyond.

Thanks @violingirl20! Impressive profile for sure… Good luck with your decision to make! Or are you done?

@margarett thank you!! best of luck to your son!

@WilliamNYC haha maybe. My top 2 are Binghamton and American University, but American would have to give me a nice scholarship. I don’t want to be in debt forever lol. I like Binghamton more than American campus wise but American is better for my program (history, pre-law) and you can’t beat an internship in D.C. Sadly, American is not known for giving money so it will likely be Binghamton. I’m definitely not disappointed!!

thanks @violingirl20 !

Got accepted!
GPA W: 3.72
ACT: 30
President of Debate
Treasurer of Drama Club
Secretary of NHS
Field Hockey
Model UN
100+ hours of community service

Has anyone heard of any rejections yet or is it rare to reject for early action? Thanks! We are OOS so we are a bit out of the loop! Thanks!

@Virginiachick I’m pretty sure a couple people earlier in this thread said they were rejected or heard of someone who was
