Hey guys,
I got my acceptance to UMD: CP yesterday and I have received my acceptance to Binghamton early action. Which do you think I should attend and why?

go to maryland! binghamton is fun but the education isn't always so great and your in the middle of nowhere literally. maryland is more fun, better education and probably more prestigious

Pauls, do you mind posting your stats? I was also waitlisted/deffered,
thank you!

Is money going to be a factor? You already know that as a NYS resident, Binghamton is going to be less than half the money than college park, unless you are part of the honors college, you probably won't get much in terms of financial aid be prepared to write big checks or take out big loans). CP is much larger than Binghamton. You will have to decide on the extrinsic and intristinc value of chosig one school over the other.

Yep I am a NYS Resident and Binghamton will be a lot cheaper. I have yet to visit maryland and I do like binghamton's campus. There are pluses to both schools. Its hard decision, anymore opinions?

Flamesta,

I had 1270 sats, about 96 unweighted avg., good ec's, supposedly a really good essay, the thing is I didn't take really challenging classes. My first advanced class wasn't until 11th grade which was AP U.S. History. This year I am taking hard classes though.

I had the same decision as you last year. I decided to take Binghamton because I felt it was a better fit and the instate tuition costs would enable me to do study abroad and get a car with the left over $$. I didnt think Maryland was worth it out of state, however, if sports and spirit are one of your high priorities then go to UMDCP.

If you have any questions by all means email me or im me... I have visited both schools.

Bump... any more opinions?

I was at UMD last summer. The campus is fairly pretty. Plus you have division I sports.

Paul were you deferred or waitlisted?

nope i was accepted to both

Are you saying you were just accepted, or deferred then accepted?

Depends upon your preferences as far as campus life as well as academics. Maryland has some nationally recognized departments. I would prefer Maryland but it seems that most people choose SUNYs for financial reasons.

ull save tons by going to Binghamton

that i was recently accepted i was never deffered. I, like everyone else, orginally wanted to be a lawyer but now i am debating on the fact. Binghamton would save me lots of money that i could use toward law school but what if I don't want to become a lawyer? I am very confused on what to do. So what you guys think based on that confusing information?

what did u decide? My son is facing the same decision along with Tulane. He got into both business schools.
Thanks,
Mom of future freshman–

From my perspective, you should go to UM. I also applied to UM at cp, but until now I didn’t receive any email that contains any information about my admission. Can you tell me your SAT scores and GPA? I want to evaluate my chance. Thanks!
