SUNY Binghamton

Hello all-
I would like to apply for the 2012 fall semester at SUNY Binghamton with a Double Major Linguistics and Arabic.

High School GPA around a 94, sometimes more and rarely less; never less than 92

SAT (1370/2110)
Verbal- 700
Math- 670
Writing- 740

ACT (31)
English- 33
Math- 27
Reading- 34
Science- 29

ECs include Boy Scout Senior Patrol Leader, Class president (only 1 year), acting, singing, and altar serving.

As for APs, I have a 5 in World History and will take US History and Literature this May; if all goes well I take Calculus, Eng. Lang, Biology, and CompSci next year.

I am confident I can get good recommendation letters and my essay writing skills are fairly strong.

So, what do you think? Do I have a shot at Bing?

Yes. In fact, I recommend you reach even higher.

Thanks a lot man, that means a lot to a constant worrier like myself. Someplace like Dartmouth or Georgetown would be wonderful but I’m from a middle-class family and cost is a huge inhibiting factor :/

You could apply for aid, I think you’d even get some good amount of scholarship from some good privates.

bump…

you’re absolutely in.
you’re really doing yourself a disservice not reaching higher than SUNY Bing. just try around with some other colleges- see which ones give the best financial aid. (ivies are historically pretty generous.)
and if they don’t give you aid, then screw 'em and go to SUNY :)! worth a try though, right?

You’re in! Bing’s a good school, especially for the tuition… but like the other posters said, I think you could try to reach even higher! It’s worth a shot
