suny brockport

how competitive is it?

One of my really good friends just got rejected, but her mom called admissions and apparently if she retakes the ACTs (in April) and re-submits her application, they will reconsider it. I want to know the range that the scores should be in, because I'm going to help her study study study study for this.

The website says 22-25...

Oh yeah thanks.

Anyone around who has been part of the dance program at Brockport? And I'm interested in the setting of Brockport as a college town.

deloar: have heard from a number of local kids that the dance program is very good. supposedly one of the best suny for dance. we will be visiting on the 24th, i'll post afterward about the town etc.

hei!
i also wanna apply at SUNY Brockport for its dance major... but as an intl student... i also wanna apply at SUNY Purchase...
i heard that both of them dont accept prior spring semester... we only can enroll in Fall....
its pretty bad bcause im planning to go this spring...but brockport opens an audition in Spring eventho we can start the studies in Fall...

any advice?????
is it hard to get accepted? and why brockport's TOEFL requirement is only 530++(sumtin' i forgot) although other college's requirement is 550?

thanks!

We did visit Brockport and really liked it. The campus is very nice, lots of green space, great size. they have some beautiful new apartment style dorms. The admission counselor did advise that they do rolling admission so the earlier you apply the better your chances of being accepted. They also have some great scholarships for certain GPA/SAT combinations that are guaranteed, which is really nice. Brockport has been getting an increase in app's which has caused it to become more competitive. We saw the dance studios, they looked very nice and had 3 or 4 different rooms (not a dancer so I don't know what to look for!). Dance is a requirement for all students!

The town of Brockport was small, college town. Not too much going on! But also not too far from Buffalo and Rochester for more big city stuff to do.
Hope that helps.

D2 and I stopped by the campus this past Sat. Everything was shut down so we drove around. D2 is a dancer and the dance bldg was open. Very impressive facility! Also, from their bulletin boards D2 liked what she saw. She liked the campus too.

The downtown Brockport seemed quaint with shops, restaurants/bars in a victorian kind of style. The campus is in the middle of a residential area. However, they have opened up a new section of the campus and it looks like they are trying to set up a main entrance off of Rt 31 rather than through town.
