SUNY Buffalo Honors Question

Hi. According to the SUNY buffalo honors site, an Unweighted GPA of 93 and higher is required for consideration in applying to the honors college. My unweighted GPA is 92 or 91.6 however my ACT score is 35, far higher than the minimum 29.

Will the 92 or 91.6 GPA kill any chance of getting into the honors college despite the 35 act? Or can i make a case perhaps saying my course rigor (took 4 AP and rest honor classes)?

bumpppppppp

I remember talking to an admissions lady at a recent SUNY college fair about one of their scholarships, where my ACT (32 :P) was below the usual cut off for 33, she said to apply for the scholar ship anyway if I was just under. That scholarship and the honors program are completely different, and there wasn’t a true cutoff for the scholarship. But she made it sound like SUNY Buffalo could be flexible about their programs.

Just from my logic, it would seem a bad idea for a school to not accept someone like you for an honors program when you are just a point under the average, and so much higher on ACT. Especially considering how some high schools are more rigorous than others.

Of course, I know none of this for certain, I’m just guessing. Best thing to do would be to contact an admissions officer or whoever is in charge of the honors program there

If you’re not offered the honors program initially, I believe that you can apply directly to the honors college after you’re accepted. There is also an opportunity to apply later, after a certain number of credit hours. There should be details on the honors program page(s).
