Fall2016parent, you can’t compare CIVET to Brookhaven National lab, perhaps you haven’t done enough research. Stony Brook manages a national lab, and has close relations with Cold Spring Harbors lab. There is a reason why our nuclear Physics program is ranked 4th in the nation, Rutgers is a mile away.

Now comparing a school like Rutgers, that to Stony Brook in a field like Computer Science is truly an insult. Let’s see, we are close to having 50 faculty members,(6 new being hired soon, goal is 60!) a new 100 million CSE building, and like I said earlier, we already have an entire building devoted to CS – along with us running the show in CEWIT with top notch quality faculty. Google does not visit Rutgers to check out their Database course, the way they do at Stony Brook. Yup, a panel from Google to decide who had the best project in an ordinary database couse:

Our results also speak for it’s self, ask any Rutgers CS student and they will tell you how Stony Brook’s ACM gave them a run for their money at the regional ACM contest. heck, even Ivy leagues respect Stony Brook, because we have some of the best algorithm people in the world teaching here. To back up what I said, please have fun looking for Rutgers here;
Caveat: You might find Stony Brook with the top guys;

You want to know something funny? We could’ve been top 3 in the region, had 1 student not mistaken one problem and wrote in it’s proper language.

I really find it interesting when people comment on a school because of it’s overall ranking USNEWS ranking; not even Columbia is as active as Stony Brook when it comes to research in CS, let alone a school like Rutgers – which is a good school, but simply not on the same level as Stony Brook.

Now with respect to Ph.D in CS; good luck finding Rutgers here in the rankings below. Lol @ Rutgers being compared to Stony Brook in Computer Science; Some sources even rank Stony Brook higher than Columbia, and Rutgers barely makes it top 70!

For the future, please think twice before you compare a school like Rutgers, to Stony Brook;
