I’m wondering which school to attend for Computer Science. I like all of the school, and I received a $3000/year scholarship from Stony Brook. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Stony Brook and Binghamton are better than Buffalo in the CS department, but chose whatever costs the cheapest in the end for you I guess.
I am unfamiliar with Binghamton and Stony Brook however I am somewhat familiar with Buffalo. My California daughter attended Buffalo and majored in electrical engineering which included overlapping CS coursework. She is now working in Southern California for a big contractor.
This was a headhunter that located her.
The new company was impressed with her knowledge of engineering and all of the software programs, answering very pertinent questions that were posed in her interview. Both departments wanted her immediately for their teams and increased her wage when her clearances came through within the week.
@“aunt bea” : As I know that the CEO of a Chinese Search Engine Giant was graduated from CS of UB.
I think all 3 are good choices. Location/lifestyle/cost should dictate your choice.
SB, Long Island is very different from living in upstate NY.
Bing has a nice campus, but middle of nowhere.
Buffalo is a city with lots to do locally, more than the others.
SB is close enough to NYC you can go there once in a while but campus life is not loved by many students.
Academics may be a bit better at SB but not enough to make the decision.
Bing is not at all good in computer science. Its more of a business school. Stony Brook is better than Buffalo in rankings. If you can go to stony brook go there otherwise, buffalo.
