Hi, I’m currently a sophomore at SUNY New Paltz and am in between declaring sociology and communication disorders as my major. I am considering transferring to SUNY Buffalo University, not state, for my junior and senior year. However, I am concerned that the sociology and speech pathology at Buffalo University is not as interactive and more researched based than New Paltz, or if that should be a factor in my decision and that either program is beneficial for my career should I choose either field? I want to transfer because of the environment at New Paltz and feel as though I want more of a college experience, something I don’t feel I have here. I want to be somewhere more diverse, a bigger campus, more city life, more of a spirited campus(sports are not big here and there are a lot of commuters) and more of an even gender ratio, but I don’t know if this is enough if I feel that my programs I am looking for are good here and I enjoy my professors and classes, but the overall environment is something that I’m not completely happy with. Thank you.
Buffalo has a happening downtown. Lots of great events for college age kids. What is your GPA? You will need to go to graduate school in order to be a speech pathologist, which I’m sure you probably know already. Also they call it “U.B.” or SUNYBuffalo, generally not Buffalo University.
