Hey, Just wondering if anyone has been accepted through the EOP program at any of the SUNY schools?
I’m waiting to hear from Oswego, New Paltz and Cortland.
I’ve been accepted to Buffalo State, Farmingdale and Delhi through EOP. I want to hear from all schools before making a decision. Anyone else apply through EOP and get accepted?
My son was accepted to Oswego without EOP. He was also accepted to New paltz with EOP. Everyone has told me that it is insane to go to any SUNY school in an EOP program if you already are accepted to a decent SUNY(Oswego) school. He is accepting the EOP program. Oswego and NP are both great, and obviously NP is a higher Tier, and much harder to get admitted too. Less rigorous than a Binghamton. My suggestion is to go to an EOP program at a great school. The diploma is the same. The mentoring and tutoring are fantastic. Only the first year is intense because they want retention. Guess what? 90% in the NP program succeed. There is absolutely no separation from the general NP population nor does anyone need to know, if that is a concern. You dorm and class like any other NP student. The major difference is that when you need a tutor or mentor you don’t have to wait for one . This is not Math Lab or writing help./ This is a commitment by the college for you to succeed. In fact, it is a lottery win if you get in. 2000 applicants for 150 slots. Yes, 1500 of those 2000 are not qualified as they should apply to a SUNY Old Westbury or a community college. The 500 who do qualify have a 30% chance. My son was lucky. I don’t know if giving up the Oswego slot without EOP is the right thing, but I don’t think anyone in their right mind could imagine the intense cold and wind of the winter that Lake Ontarion effect has. That is why so many kids from Rochester and Syracuse go there. They actually prefer getting more from NYC(15% of freshman). They even offered a 500 dollar stipend to my son. He had a GPA of 85 and an SAT of 1060. I think Oswego has a great business department( known for their media studies and Al Roker) but NP also has a great business department( known for Arts and Theater).
Both schools are good. Have you compared the program he is interested in at both schools? Do you think that your son can succeed without the EOP supports?
I got into Oswego! I love the campus so much. Decided to go here and not wait for the others. The only school I would choose over Oswego would be New Paltz but still haven’t heard from them. I’m content with my decision to got to Oswego.
