SUNY Engineering

Standard USNEWS ranking aside, can someone give me an insight/review on the engineering departments of the following schools?

University of Buffalo

Binghamton University

Stony Brook University

Clarkson University

New Paltz

Plan on transferring to one of the four above (if FA doesn't work out, CCNY). For further help, I plan on pursuing in the Computer Engineering field.

Also, how does transfer students and EOP work?

My son transferred to SUNY New Paltz and is very happy there. The computer engineering dept looks interesting on the website. There is a very supportive atmosphere at New Paltz. Small classes and lots of personal attention. Professors have been very accessible. If you have any questions about the school I’d be happy to try and help.

[State University of New York at New Paltz: Electrical and Computer Engineering](http://www.newpaltz.edu/engineering/undergrad_ce.html)

Clarkson isn’t SUNY. I think its got a pretty good rep, but its double the cost of a SUNY. UB and Stony Brook are really the two engineering SUNY’s. I don’t know why you would go to Binghampton for engineering. If you can get in there you can get into UB or Stony Brook and UB and Stony Brook are a LOT more heavily recruited than Binghampton.

Son is a freshman at UB in engineering. Very, very happy. Lots to offer up there in engineering and the university in general.
He was accepted at Bing but was not impressed by their engineering dept. He was accpted at many schools (all he applied to) and ultimately chose UB, cost aside, due to the program, etc.

Thanks! So for Computer Engineering, which would you guys say is better? Stony Brook or University at Buffalo?

Stony Brook definitely has a better engineering program than U. Buffalo.

the two schools are about equal, I would go to Buffalo

Do any of you guys know how the campus life is at UB? Compared to SBU?

How about Albany? They have a 3-2 engineering program.

I submitted my app and New Paltz was already in it.
