I am wondering if anyone has any experience, thoughts, opinions on SUNY-ESF. Just looking for general information, but also wondering about the relationship with Syracuse...how do ESF students feel their relationship is with SU, how do they feel they are perceived by SU students.

My S was accepted last year and is not attending. We visited the campus which is relatively small located near the Carrier Dome. Our impression was the student body is very serious about the environment and environmental studies. For instance it is frowned upon to even walk across the grass. As far as its relationship with 'cuse we only felt good vibes regarding that and how the two student bodies mix. Syracuse students do have a nickname for ESF students though, I believe it is all in good fun. Sorry I couldn't give you anymore info. Hope this helps

Daughter attends SUNY Plattsburgh as an Environmental Studies major and is just thrilled with the program at this school. Have heard from esf undergraduates who are not happy, due to the fact that Syracuse is huge. We’re thinking ESF would be perfect for the graduate level but personally we are really content with Plattsburgh for her undergraduate years. I believe Plattsburgh offers about 5 variations on the environmental degrees and has been doing so for a long time…(not a “Johnny-come-lately” with regard to the environmental focus).
