Does anyone know how much funding NYS schools give to instate residents? Is it just FASFA or is there another type of aid program? Im applying to SUNY Albany and not sure if ill be able to afford it. my parents make $100,000 and live on long island but are also supporting a household of 7 people. And also is it better to state my own taxes on fasfa or just my parents? Really need the most money I can get!
After you fill out the FAFSA, make sure you apply for the NYS TAP (tuition assistance program). There’s a link at the end of the FAFSA, but you can go to HESC and complete the application there too.
You don’t get to choose whose info. you report. You’re required to answer questions about your parents’ finances as well as your own. You can electronically link your tax info. directly to the form so it saves time. If your family qualifies for work study, the faster you get the forms completed the better. I’m not sure if you’ll qualify for aid, but with 7 people you might get a little something so it’s definitely worth it to apply. Good luck.
Thank you! Ill definitely try!
