SUNY-Fredonia

Has anyone auditioned @ Fredonia for the MT/BFA? Can any of you tell us more about the program?

I know of three local youngsters from the Rochester area who attend Fredonia and all were good performers in their local high schools but didn't have the grades or the desire to attend one of the larger "name" programs. They and their parents seem quite satisfied with the courses, even several years into the program, which speaks well for the school.Recently I had occasion to see two young women from the Fredonia MT program at a local audition and was quite a bit less than impressed with their preparation- they showed up almost an hour late for the call, looked unprofessional(nose rings, odd clothing for the parts and the weather) and both sang numbers that are right at the top of those infamous "do not perform" lists! That being said, I am sure that they do not represent the majority of the students at the school.
Have you been to visit yet? The winters are hard and the location rather isolated but the campus is pretty and I'd like to hear more from anyone who might have a youngster there also.

A couple of years ago, a very good singer from NY, who has performed on Broadway off and on, recommended SUNY Fredonia's MT program to us. We never had a chance to visit there, but I did look at the web site. At the time I noticed that they have a late audition (maybe in April?) and had it in mind if we needed a last minute audition in the event of rejections from other schools. It recently showed up on my calendar, and thankfully, I was able to delete it from my palm.
