SUNY Geneseo Class of 2014 Accepted Students

Assuming the same yield as last year, that’s still around a 30% acceptance rate, so keep hope high guys.
If anyone’s interested, here’s some general statistics for students from my school for the last 3 years.

The yield will probably be higher because of the tough economy. Anyways, my basic stats:

M - 690

W - 650

Top 5%, public school, 3.7 UW, all AP’s/honors

Lots of EC’s (mostly music), two varsity sports (captain both), lots of volunteer work, NHS, etc.

I got accepted! it’s nice because after being deferred ED, it’s my first acceptance  good feeling…

Stats:
V: 800
W: 800
M: 700
Lit: 790
US: 750
APUS: 5
APEL: 5
ABcalcAB: 5
GPA: 5.2/6, where 6 is unattainable
top 20% (tiny public school, very competitive)

also applied: amherst college, brown, haverford, wesleyan, skidmore

CONGRATS to everyone accepted!

Got accepted, as well! My second acceptance and am waiting to hear about the Honors College and financial aid…

ACT - 31

As the question’s been asked but no one’s really answered it, I’ll ask it again:
– When do we hear about financial aid and/or the Honors College?

I got my acceptance letter today as well.
here’s my stats
SAT: 2230
M: 760
V: 710
W: 760

Math Level 2: 800
Physics: 720
World Hist: 710

GPA: 3.75 according to my guidance counselor

Very competitive public high school (<4% accept rate)

Congratulations to everyone accepted. Don’t worry to everyone not - it seems relatively easy to transfer in. I was really heartbroken when I didn’t get into my ED, but I’m happy I didn’t now - I now realize it didn’t fit me and I would have been miserable there.

Maybe the honors college only come with your acceptance if you’re not from NY? I was a little disappointed to not get one, but the two people above me definitely deserve an offer to apply, so maybe they come separately (not saying they’re the only two, just the two I noticed now).

More curious about financial aid myself because I would only be able to do 3 years of it (unless I could do the capstone my junior year) since I’m doing the 3-2 combined plan engineering program.

Geneseograd- I was placed on the select wait-list, any idea how many are pulled for fall 2010 semester? I have also heard it is lottery based is that true?

In shock

O.O

I LOVE GENESEO <3

Finally got into college woot woot =] so excited!

ACT - 34
SAT IIs - Bio 710 / US History 71
95 UW GPA
10 AP Classes
Tons of ECs and community service
Competitive High

Hoping that honors program invitations come later because I was surprised I didn’t get one but some amazing people on here didn’t either so let’s hope it comes with the financial aid =]
Congrats everyone!

yea!!! im so excited geneseo is an awesome school and its my first acceptance!!! !!!

ACCEPTED!
Stats:
SAT:
CR: 740
M: 630
W: 740

GPA: 3.9

Took 2 AP’s last year and this year (the limit they allow at my school- the AP’s are that hard). Very competitive public NYC high school.

Extracurriculars:
-Editor in Chief and founder of School Literary Magazine
-Writing Center Tutor
-Irish Fiddle
-Choir

Applied to Brown ED- was deferred. But this makes it all better! Not sure if I’m going to go, but it’s sure great to have as an option. Good luck/congrats to everyone else!

I finally got my acceptance letter & I’m just wondering what the student life is like… I visited in November on a weekend and for some reason there were like no students around at all; did they really all go home for the weekend? and the town seemed so small! I’m obviously going to college to learn but do they have any fun at geneseo…?

accepted as well : ) to echo the number of questions before me, does anybody know about the Edgar Fellows program (the honors program)? I checked out old threads and they received their invitations on March 5th, which sounds like it would come with the acceptance letters…

Based on the packet sent, we should receive notice about financial aid in Mid-March.

Accepted :)

2050 SAT, 3.81 UW GPA, with mostly honors & APs

I would like to know more about the surroundings of Geneseo too. Like… what’s there to do for leisure and how it is like to live off-campus without a car. I’m an international + non-traditional student so I don’t know how well I’ll be able to fit in, and I have to reply by March 12 which is little too rush for me… ahh.

Does anyone know how rigorous the physics and chemistry programs are at Geneseo?

^seconded. I applied for Chem.

Also, is anyone going to visit? I want to but the tickets are so pricy. Are there any cheaper ways to get there than Amtrak (i looked up amtrak prices alone because that’s all I know)

I’m currently a bio major at Geneseo.

Any science major is hard.

Physics is hard, but I heard that the professors really want to see you succeed…more so than other majors. My friend who is a physics major actually texts one of his professors. Not creepy stuff, but for example the professor texted him after his mid-term and said something like “Hey, you did really well on your midterm! 87!”.

Chem department has some really cool professors…I’m actually thinking about switching to a chem major.

Geneseo is a great school…my first year FLEW by here. Makes me scared to think that in 2 months I’ll be 1/4 done with the “best years of my life”.

I’m just going up there by car because I haven’t visited it yet and I don’t think its possible to choose your college if you’ve never seen it before. A couple of my friends are carpooling up there and splitting the gas - ask if any of your friends got in?

I just got the letter for the honors program. You should get it around 3/4 days after you get your acceptance :)
