1,2,3 or 200, to me it’s representative of the group. my last point then i’m going back to life. if you don’t get 700 on a section of the sat, you are not an honor student anywhere, if you don’t get 600, you are less than an average suburban student. geneseo has gone from 80%+ admitted students with 600+ m and verbal scores to the mid 50’s of each. if 40 to 50 percent of your class can’t break 600 on a section, YOU AIN"T HONORS.
Has the proportion of admitted SUNY Geneseo students scoring 600+ on each SAT subtest declined from ~80th percentile+ to ~mid-50th percentile? Here’s the data (Data source: Common Data sets):
Proportion of SUNY Geneseo students scoring 600+
Fall 2014 SAT CR 55.7%; SAT M 63.4%
Fall 2013 SAT CR 69.8%; SAT M 75.1%
Fall 2012 SAT CR 71.6%; SAT M 77.6%
Fall 2011 SAT CR 73%; SAT M 76%
Fall 2010 SAT CR 76.8%; SAT M 82.2%

PhD411, I think you’ve answered your own question. Since you started this thread, what do you make of this?
@dcalb1, I’ve discovered a discrepancy between data sources regarding the proportion of SUNY Geneseo students scoring 600+ on SAT subtests.
SUNY Geneseo Common Data Sets:
Fall 2013 SAT CR 69.8%; SAT M 75.1%
Fall 2012 SAT CR 71.6%; SAT M 77.6%
Fall 2011 SAT CR 73%; SAT M 76%
Fall 2010 SAT CR 76.8%; SAT M 82.2%
SUNY Geneseo Fact Book*:
Fall 2013 SAT CR 80.74%; SAT M 85.6%
Fall 2012 SAT CR 86.5%; SAT M 92.6%
Fall 2011 SAT CR 73.3%; SAT M 76%
Fall 2010 SAT CR 91.2%; SAT M 93.4%
- Does not include Access Opportunity Program (AOP) Students
- Recentered scores Data Source: Annual Freshman Class Profile Sheet prepared by Admissions Office.
Could the discrepancies found above be purely a product of the exclusion of AOP students from the second data set?
Does geneseo offer scholarships? And if so would we have already been notified?
@jimtoes, arent my sat scores above the average at geneseo? Wouldnt that alone guarantee me a solid shot?
idk maybe im wrong
And yeah I did get really lucky

@ggwpafk823 I definitely wouldn’t consider it lucky, judging by your info you seem like a good student with stats along the lines (if not a bit higher) of others accepted! So what if your essay was a bit weak, we all have one part or another that isn’t stellar…
Anyway, I just thought that his/her post was kind of rude, but it seems like they are here to spread negativity; I got a rather discouraging response on another thread as well. Don’t talk yourself down, you got into Geneseo because you earned it!
