Hi everyone!
Anyone familiar with Suny Maritime business programs? especially I'm interested in International Trade and Transportation. I know they have high employment rates after graduation, but I'm not sure that it applies to non-engineer degrees. Also I'm an international myself. So any opinion or experience?

c’mon guys:)

My son was accepted to this college and we were very impressed with the academics and preparation for employment. He was in the NJROTC program in HS and found this college and program very attractive. He chose to attend an LAC and obtained a degree in International Business but has looked at SUNNY Maritime for the MS program in Transportion. We have several friends who graduated from there and give it high marks. Best of luck to you, hopefully a current student or recent grad can answer more specific questions. BTW, it has a high percentage of foreign students.

Thank you for respond. I’m just curious about employment after and lifestyle of non-regiment students with this degree, because as I know the majority of students are engineers on regiment, so I can’t find any objective information:)

Regimented students are those who will earn a degree in their major and will follow a Coast Guard list of requirements for a commission to CG or a Merchant Marine commission. You would be a civilian student unless you chose to be commissioned after your degree. The shipping industry in the US is dominated by overseas companies. There are not a huge amount of openings but since the job requirements are so specific, you will be well trained and offered numerous opportunities for internships. Have you contacted their counselors yet? Are you able to visit this school or any others that you are interested in?

The problem is that I can’t visit any school, and I’m not familiar with civilian atmosphere there. I’m more concerned about internships and employment as international. I understand that I should choose colleges in terms of atmosphere, but if the school worth it I’m ready to have tough days:) I’m sure it is a good one though
Also if I’m more interested in operations management, so which of this degrees is more suitable, International Trade and Transportation or Marine Business and Commerce?
Thank you so much for your responds:)
