<p>I know it's early, but I'm a sophmore and I've fallen in love with suny new paltz. I'm doing better in school lately, but please tell me if I have a chance in (considering the upward trend).</p>
<p>the only honors class I took last year was French. I got high 80s and low 90s on the regents. I got a 100 on the French one:)</p>
<p>this year, I'm only taking honors French and global...
But I've gotten way better grades. Last year my average was only a 92 and this year it's around a 95.
My EC's are okay...
JV Tennis team both years, and definetly varsity next year
Ski club both years
Last year, chairperson of teen advisory board for the local teen center

<p>I plan to do well on my essay, because I know it's important. Can anyone chance me for New Paltz? I know I'm young and it's hard to tell but I really like the college. Be honest, I can take it <em>puts on brave face and throws fist into air</em></p>
<p>Oh yeah and I’m a female from a town near Rochester, so like 5 hours away from new paltz. I forgot to add that I take piano lessons, tennis lessons, and that i won the choir award last year. I’m going more towards majoring in art, but I’m pretty undecided.</p>
<p>Looks like your gpa will be strong if you continue what you’re doing. Just need to work on getting a good SAT/ACT score and you’ll have no problem getting in. New Paltz is a great school…my son is a senior there now. He is an art major, so if you have any questions feel free to ask!</p>

Thanks!!! I’ve been reading a lot of comments you’ve written, and I think it’s really helpful (not only to me, I’m sure). Can you tell me how important your classes are? Not grade wise, but rigor? Do you know how much they care about harder level classes? I know they really look at your essay and like to get to know you as a person. Thanks a bunch!</p>
<p>My son was accepted twice…once out of HS, but went to a different school, and then as a transfer. He didn’t take an extremely rigorous course load in HS, just a bunch of AP’s. He had a strong gpa though and a good SAT and ACT score. His essay was really good too. It does seem as though admission to NP gets harder each year.</p>

<p>And then reading below them, it says I scored higher than 71% of sophmores for Critical Reading, 76% of sophmores for math, and 73% of sophmores for writing skills.
I don’t know if that last bit was important, so sorry if you’re like “what is she talking about I don’t need to know that.”
So, yay or nay?</p>
