Hi, I am very interested in SUNY New Paltz and would love to hear opinions about my chances of being admitted. I would be transferring in with 45+ units, looking to major in communications/minor in music. I went to a four year school in CA for a year, getting a 3.19 GPA and transferred to a community college to save $$. My current GPA at the community college is a 3.7, bringing my overall GPA to a 3.33. (Sidenote: I am still a NYS resident, despite living in CA). I have many extracurricular activities, plus internship and work experience.

I would love any help I can get! Thank you.

You could go even better school in my opinion…

You should be OK for New Paltz. My son is a transfer student there. He transferred from the University of Miami and finds the classes more challenging, the staff more supportive and the student body down to earth and friendly. Great location too. If you have any questions I’d be happy to answer.

Thank you so much, you guys. Your opinions are valued greatly! :)

LilyMoon, Would you mind letting me know what your son’s GPA was when he transferred? There were no personal statement or letter of recommendation requirements on the SUNY NP application, so I guess their decisions are very strictly based upon numbers.

Great- Thanks for your help!
