My S got his RD decision acceptance today, earlier than expected. Any others hear?

The rep on facebook said that the first wave of RD decisions were mailed on 1/16. Congrats. Do you mind if I ask his stats?

New Paltz is his safety, but he thinks he would be happy to go there. He had a 98.14 average(wtd) and 1350 sat. We are in state. He also applied to Binghamton and Geneseo, but has not heard from them.

Congrats on your son's acceptance LongeyeMom! My son just started at New Paltz this semester as a transfer. So far things are going well despite the fact that he has a broken foot. The school has been very accomodating and helpful, so I have been impressed so far. He transferred from University of Miami and could have chosen to go to many other schools but he thought NP would fit him best. He was looking for a more laid back down to earth attitude and closer proximity to home.

I got accepted to New Paltz today, and I didn't send my essay until after Christmas Break, probably around the 6th

I got accepted to New Paltz today, too.

I was accepted yesterday as well.

I sent in my app. to new paltz and binghamton a little while ago, along with transcript and essay shortly after. I haven't gotten any word back from new paltz, although i have recieved confirmation mailings from binghamton. When i tried to check my application status on new paltz's web site, it says I am unable to.

Whats the problem?

I applied a little bit less than 3 weeks ago and GC sent out transcript, etc. 2 weeks ago today. I called to confirm that my application had been received with the possibility that my stuff was matched to it.

I was told that my application is not even in their system yet. The woman said that their application system gets updated every 4-6 weeks and to call back in 2 weeks to make sure. She told me that once my application is in their system, it is immediately matched with everything they have gotten for me through the mail and to expect a decision within 2 weeks of that date.

I have no idea what kind of computer system they are on but Binghamton sent me a letter 10 business days later saying that they had received my app. Maybe NP does things differently because most schools its another 4 weeks before you get your decision after they match all your stuff.

sean256 - That schedule looks about right. The whole process took around 7 weeks for me.

I wouldn't worry. These things take time! My time line:

12/16 - sent part I application(SUNY online)
12/23 - transcripts/test scores/recommendations sent by school
1/17 - notification application had been received (post-marked 1/15)
2/4 - received acceptance packet

Around 1/24 I saw links for paying deposits and registering for open house.

Good luck! :)

just got my acceptance today.... it's my first acceptance, I'm so excited! :)

My D was accepted to NP. She applied EA and got notification in mid Jan. She was applying for the Art Department, which required portfolio submission, and heard from them around mid Feb (she was accepted.) However, the decision will be difficult. We love instate tuition but we wish knew more about NP's art department.

westchestermom,
D is a Soph. moring in Eng. Lit and Studio Art with a concentration in painting. Do you have questions about the art program? I would be glad to answer if I can.

Congrats on all your acceptances! So, who is going to attend?

I actually got accepted 4 weeks after I applied...pretty fast turn around. I received my acceptance before I received the letter saying they got my application.

I still have visit;and I'm doing so in two days!

If I don't get into Binghamton, and I like New Paltz's campus then I will probably go to New Paltz.

Have a good visit Sean...it's supposed to snow for the next couple of days.

i applied to new paltz around a week and a half ago, and when my guidance counselor called the other day to make sure everything was in line they said they had already made a decision...

should i be optimistic?

Thanks, lilyMoon. I shall have great visit and snow isn't anything I can't handle...upstaters deal with about 160 inches a year.

creative3- I think it could possibly be a good thing. I told my GC about the whole thing and she said that I was probably a "shoe in" so there wasn't a need to deliberate about it or hold off on a decision so they just sent one out really quick.

i hope so

what were your stats?

SATS: 1220/1600
