i got accepted into oneonta for music industry =]

Congratulations Shandrydan - I saw on the NYU ED thread you were accepted to Stern…I guess New Paltz is out for you? haha

Congrats daviesda!

Thank you CollegeBound!! I’ll be attending NYU Steinhardt in the fall… would have loved any other school I applied to, though!!

My son just got his acceptance today. They were mailed out yesterday so they should all arrive by early next week.

I just got deferred from New Paltz. I also got deferred from 2 of my other schools, which were all considered “safeties” on my part… Yet I got in to NYU. Just goes to show how competitive and sought after SUNYs are becoming. Congrats to all who got in!!

bextreme1 - congrats to your son! Will he be attending NP?

Shandrydan - wow, that is surprising! I went to NYU and my son is at New Paltz. Both great schools in their own ways. Good luck at NYU.

Shan-
If you dont mind me asking what are your stats…my D applied to Oneonta and we are waiting on decision…sorry to hear about your deferrals…it will all turn out for the best. Keep your spirits up…you will eventually get into the perfect college.

just got my acceptance to new paltz! im kind of surprised that i actually got in early action though lol

Congratulations everyone, where are you all located, we didnt get anything here in NYC yet.

Shandrydan - i’m actually not surprised by your deferment, your stats are obviously top notch in order to get into NYU and I have read many times on these threads about schools deferring or out right rejecting students whose credentials overally exceed their requirements because they know your putting them down as a safety and will probably enroll elsewhere. Congrats on NYU thats fantastic!

Congrats Turner92 all that worrying for naught! ( I dont know how to do the cool smiley faces on here)

Congrats Turner92! I know how eager you were for that acceptance. :)

haha thank you. i used to really want to go to new paltz but i have actually changed my mind somehow. i’ve decided that i need to attend a school with some sort of dance program since i just love dancing way to much to give it up for college. its hard to turn down new paltz though because it has a good reputation.

LilyMoon - Yes, my son is definitely going to New Paltz. It was my first choice for him. Already registered for the April Orientation.

Just wondering if the New Paltz acceptance is a packet or an envelope?

A Packet. Small envelope means no.

No packet yet or letter yet for my S, but when you go to the “Log In” page, it gives him the opportunity to register for the accepted students open house. Do you think that mean he’s in? New Paltz was a very safe safety for him (or so we thought) and in his top 3.

KarrenK - my D also has had the accepted students link since Tuesday and we didnt receive anything today either. I live in NYC so I’m thinking tomorrow perhaps, not sure where the others are from… but I’m pretty sure that link appearing is a good sign. Good luck to your son!

Thanks. We’re on LI. Good luck to your D, too!

We live in Albany and didn’t receive a packet today from New Paltz. The accepted student link appeared a few days ago. My S received his acceptance from Oneonta yesterday.

My D was just accepted to New Paltz! She also made Oneonta and Purchase. She wants to go into digital design/graphic design. Which school would be best for her? We live on LI and she prefers to be closer than further so Oneonta may be running third now.

My son is a graphic design major at New Paltz. He has had a great experience so far with the art dept. He is a transfer student and we have seen his passion for his major grow incredibly since attending New Paltz. The kids in his classes are very creative and all support each other. It’s a great environment to grow. He is really looking forward to his next semester now as he has signed up for some very interesting classes. The free trips to the NYC art museums are a bonus as is the art museum on campus.

We are on LI too, and the proximity to home is another plus. Far enough so it’s not a commuter environment but close enough to come home occasionally or for us to go visit for the day or weekend.
