<p>My D has been accepted to both schools and is trying to make a decision. She is still undecided on a major but is leaning towards communications/film editing. Both schools seem to be up and coming and are increasingly more selective. </p>
<p>Please share your opinions and experience with these schools. Do you have children attending? What has been their experience, likes, dislikes? </p>

<p>My son transferred to SUNY New Paltz last year. He knows people who go to Oneonta too. He felt Oneonta was too isolated for him and too far from NYC. He really takes advantage of the town of New Paltz as it has a lot of restaurants, coffee houses and shops. He also goes to Poughkeepsie often and NYC a few times each semester. The students at New Paltz do tend to be more artsy and creative, although he is the only art major in his house. He is enjoying the majority of his classes and finds that the students are supportive of each other and help each other out which he didn’t have at his previous university.
I’d be happy to answer any questions you have about New Paltz. I’m sure it’s a hard decision.</p>
<p>New Paltz is definitely a nicer location, but I don’t know anything about the programs.</p>
