SUNY Oneonta or SUNY Albany For Psychology

I am going to be a senior in high school this year and I can't seem to stop thinking about which college will be right for me. I have about a 3.5/3.6 GPA and I got a 1640 on my SAT's. I am planning to retake the SAT's and planning on taking the ACT's. I have always known I wanted to major in psychology and receive a BS in psychology. From there I wanted to go to law school or med school. I did want to be at a large school in a city and that is why Albany appealed to me. My cousin also went to Albany and he seemed to get a very good internship. I want to be able to party while I'm in college, but I fear that Albany will be a little much for me. I know a few friends who go to Oneonta and they love it there. My high school made me take a college match survey and Oneonta was the first and highest matched college. It seems to be a very good school and I feel like it will be the right choice, but I still have doubts. I'm going to visit both within the next month and appearance will mean a lot. I hear that Albany looks like a prison whereas Oneonta is a beautiful campus. I pretty much have a good feeling on Oneonta, but I keep doubting myself when it comes to an internship and how well known Albany is. I am also vaguely considering SUNY Oswego, University of Rhode Island, and Towson. Fordham is my dream school, but it is too much money and too close, therefore I'm planning to go to grad school there. Though I didn't hear the best things about those schools. I am focusing on Albany and Oneonta. I would just like some advice and thoughts about both colleges and their psychology programs as soon as possible. Thank you.

I would rate Towson over Oneonta & Albany but I don’t know if paying out-of-state tuition would be worth the difference. I work in a school in Central NY state & our students have had better experiences overall at Oneonta rather than Albany (We’ve had a number transfer out after one year).

csdad,
My parents are set on the SUNY prices even though they make good money (therefore financial aid isn’t an option) so if I don’t get any money for my grades to out of state schools, they aren’t much of an option. I also don’t know if my grades are good enough for merit scholarships. I’ve also heard Towson is more of a commuter school and most students go home on weekends. I want the full college experience and this therefore leading me away from Towson. Thank you for your input on Oneonta though!

Well I don know about the schools in academic sense but parties at Albany are said to be crazy. Albany itself isn’t exactly the best place and aside from that it’s very close to other schools which make partying easier and more adamant. However there should be other factors because the party scene is what you make it. Oneonta is noticeably smaller in relation to Albany so classes are smaller and more personal. And if you’re going upstate you might as well take advantage of having a beautiful campus, smaller campus etc.
