SUNY Oswego Students

What do you guys do for fun?
Are there some stores near? If So which ones?
in a scale of 1-10 how easy is it to find a Hair Care Salon near the campus?
How is the Winter?
How is the people?/the professors
Which do you consider is the best Dorm?
Diversity

I would like to know some of the same information.

As for the dorm, I’ve heard that Johnson Hall is the best. It is one of the newer ones, but you need to do a few hours of community service and one or two papers in addition to your course work in order to live there. The tour guide made it seem like not much of a big deal, so I doubt it is.

party for fun. There is a lot of bars in Oswego. Not too many stores imo. Probably somewhere in town to get your haircut but idk bc I go home to get my haircut. The winter is pretty bad but it makes the fall/spring much better. I personally hate winter so it sucks going to class everyday now bc its bad but its not horrible. People are ok i guess. A lot of idiots that party too much and don’t focus on school enough. Professors are good for the most part. I’ve read a lot of bad reviews on ratemyprofessor.com of some of my teachers but don’t let that discourage you. I just think a lot of students at oswego are stoners/partiers that don’t put enough time into their school work. Best dorm would be village/onondaga but if you are going to be a freshman, probably johnson bc you wont get into daga/village. I guess its semi-diverse but not too much. A lot of foreigners actually bc we have some abroad program (i think) and a dorm just for people from other countries (hart). I would say visit the campus and go around town to see how it is. I personally dont like it but im going for school and not the location. Finally if you like to party, Oswego is a good place to be.

i’m attending oswego this fall too- i haven’t visited the campus at all but is it big or are there shuttles and such? and is greek life really big on campus? thanks!

how is the food there? =]

Hi my son from Long Island has Oswego down to his final 2, New Paltz the other. He loves hockey so this is probably why he is into Oswego. I read Gills post and it was good for info. anyone else want to weigh in? We loved the campus it looked beautiful, but I hear winters are rough. I see it has a very low rate of freshman returning, like 75%, some say its the weather and distance away. Any opinions? I tell you as many people love this school as not love the school, its a hard school to get a read on. Any Long Island kids would be appreciated.
