Hi. I was accepted to both SUNY Oswego and The University at Buffalo. I am going to attend one of these two schools, but I am not sure which one to attend. I plan on applying to veterinary school in the future. I was accepted into SUNY Oswego's zoology program, and I was accepted to The University at Buffalo as an undecided student. I know that SUNY Oswego and The University at Buffalo differ in size, and The University at Buffalo is way more urban than SUNY Oswego. I honestly do not know if I want to attend a small college or a large one. Please help me! Tell me which one might give me a better chance of getting me into a veterinary school (Cornell University's veterinary school for example), if you can. Thank you. Much appreciated.

FYI-
Buffalo is a city, but the campus )both of them, are not in the “City”.

UB is a bigger school with much larger alumni network. They have many great science programs and great graduate programs (law, medicine, dental schools…)

As someone who went to Oswego (many years ago and then transferred out to a large OOS public as Oswego did not have my major), and the mother of a current UB student, I’d suggest you consider UB.

We have been very impressed with UB and their programs. Lots of activities on campus. North (main campus) is in a very suburban area. South campus is also in a suburban area, just 10 minutes between the two, but closer to the “city”.

UB’s reputation is much better than Oswego (not that it is a bad school by any means). Between the two, I would encourage you to seriously consider Buffalo.

Feel free to PM me with any questions.

One of my daughters is in her second year at the University at Buffalo (UB). She did receive the presidential scholarship from Oswego but chose not to go there. I would tell you that I think UB is an incredible institution. It is a true University, rather than a college and that brings some distinct differences. It has an abundance of majors to choose from and a reputation beyond New York’s borders. In the end you need to go with your gut but my kid chose UB and has been very happy with her decision. Good Luck!

Thank you crazed and worrywartmom. Bump please.
