Can anyone give me their thoughts on how good of a reputation SUNY Oswego has? I am currently a sophomore at SUNY Oswego. I was interested of going to law school after my undergrad studies, but I don't know if having Oswego on my resume is going to hurt me or not, and if I should transfer. If anyone could give me their thoughts on this, it would be much appreciated.

Dude, go talk to pre law. Law schol admissions hinges on 3 factors:

1) that you went to an accredited school, ANY 4 year school with regional accredidation
2) LSAT
3) GPA

Oswego is absolutely fine for law school and transferring to say, binghamton, Syracuse or Colgatewon’t give you an advantage, given the same GPA, major and LSAT.

In sum- score at or above the median LSAT and GPA which ever school you want to and coming from Oswego, you’ll be fine. If you don’t believe me, call a law school and ask an admissions counselor directly. I’ve done it and the answer I got was akin to "Oswego is a solid, not elite, but deff not a slouch school either. It’s all about the numbers.

Colgate 4.0 gpa > Oswego 4.0 gpa
Syracuse 4.0 gpa > Oswego 4.0 gpa
Binghamton 4.0 gpa > Oswego 4.0 gpa

Law schools judge you based on the past performance of your college-mates and the rigor of your college’s curriculum.

Same gpa’s (or majors) at different colleges are not (necessarily) treated the same…
