SUNY-Purchase, any thoughts?

Within the last few days, both my Wesleyan and my Harvard interviewer suggested that Purchase, with its creative writing program, might be a better "scholarly match," as the Harvard gentleman put it. Anyone know anything about Purchase?

the best SUNYs are binghamton and geneseo

PUrchase has a very "artsy" creative crowd. Many of the students are commuters. There are not many dorms on campus.

The creative writing program is supposed to be very good, but the people I know there are isolated. Many of the students are busy with performance arts: theater, music, vocal and have many hours of practicing.

Also if you were looking at a harvard, why would your next step be SUNY Purchase???

I don't know your stats, but am assuming you have the academic profile to get into H and W. If so, the suggestions were probably made if what you want to do in college with the major does not mesh with what those schools offer in creative writing. Some schools just do not really have a creative writing major. I know CMU does, and so does Johns Hopkins, and, yes Purchase does have a excellent program.
