SUNY Purchase OOS?

Can anyone give me some info. on Purchase and getting in from OOS? My D1 is planning to major in art (and Japanese, if available, though we understand that Purchase doesn't offer a program in it so would be focusing only on art if admitted). Is there a considerable diff. in the stats btw. instate and OOS accepted applicants? For art majors, does the art portfolio have the most weight in admissions? 24% acceptance rate is a little dauting and D has a 3.0 gpa with 1800 guestimated SAT's. Should she forget applying to Purchase I guess is what I'm wondering?

We're instate VA, so VCU is tops on list instate, but she would prefer the smaller size of SUNY Purchase :(. Just not sure she stands a chance OOS...

SUNY schools like out of state students since you’ll be paying a higher tuition rate. Don’t know about Art but if admissions for art are similiar to music then if she has a strong portfolio that is good enough for admission to the art school it should mitigate her 85 average. Her SAT scores are close to the 75th percentile for SUNY Purchase so they will help not hurt her. It’s only $50 to apply so I’d go for it.

thank you! It seems to be a good fit for her. Think we’re going to keep it on the list and roll the dice. The price OOS is actually pretty reasonable (compared to other states or when comparing privates).
