SUNY schools, low gpa

<p>Last year:<br>
- graduated from hs with a local diploma and a 2.7 gpa<br>
- 3 AP classes with scores of 3 and 4
- participated in varsity/jv sports
- SAT =1680 (600 writing, 630 reading, 450 math),</p>

<p>This year:
- attending community college
- will have 12 credits and around a 3.5 gpa by the end of the semester
- i plan on taking an ACT fairly soon</p>

<p>I would really like to transfer out to a suny college for fall 08, but I don't know if I even have a chance. My main concern is that I have a local diploma (if I didnt fail my chem regents I'd have an advanced diploma). Would the fact that I've got a few credits under my belt and a decent gpa from the CC override the local diploma/low gpa in any way or should I look to a different state to apply to?</p>

<p>I would ideally like to transfer to Plattsburgh, Oswego or Potsdam, but other suggestions are welcome.</p>

<p>CFH, I don't know how it works with the local diploma or if it even matters. I would check with someone at the CC who can give you advise. If it doesn't matter, I would think that you would have a pretty good shot with everything you have listed. I believe that the minuim transfer gpa is about 2.3-2.5. How far do you want to travel if you look out of state?</p>
