@LittleLiam lmao ?? that’s crazy
Waitlisted from Stony Brook CS, guess University at Buffalo is getting my deposit ?♂️
@Exclusions are you planning on transferring to Stony Brook next year by the fall of 2020 or you just going to stay in University at Buffalo for 4 years? Whats the likelihood that someone gets accepted from the waitlist pool and how do they determine if you are qualify?
@Exclusions Also, same I got waitlisted from Stony Brook for Biochemistry and I might end up going to University at Buffalo. My stats are 93 GPA and 1220 SAT.
Is it better to stay at University at Buffalo for all 4 years or is it better to stay at University at Buffalo for 1 year then transfer to Stony Brook to finish undergrad?
@sbu2019 I say play it by ear man… I am certainly disappointed, but I know that everything happens for a reason. I say apply as a transfer no matter what, as you’re not even fully committing yourself. If you have the extra dollars and you’re still interested, I say there’s no loss there. However, if you find yourself to be happy with UB then don’t sweat it. That’s my outlook.
Still waiting
@sbu2019 personally I would spend four years at Buffalo. It’s an excellent school and if you compare it with Stony Brook, Buffalo has the amenities. I grew up near SB and wanted to attend that school UNTIL my guidance counselor opened my eyes to Buffalo. In terms of transferring out after a year, sure you can do it, but you are going to start establishing yourself there and then all of a sudden will have to pack up and start all over again. This admission cycle my son was accepted to Penn State and they were passing him off to one of PA’s commonwealth schools for two years before heading to the main campus. I was dead set against it because after two years he’d have to reacclaimate himself with a new school and social scene. He agreed.
Waitlisted at Stony Brook 26 act 92 gpa
Didn’t get an answer yet. 88 gpa and 1380 + 790 on math level 2.
if theyre going to waitlist me, might as well do it already:(
Check the portal for new students tab. I got the tab today!!
Still nothing from them as well. 32 ACT
I did not get direct admissions into Binghamton, however I was accepted into Binghamton Advantage program, a joint program between Binghamton University and SUNY Broome Community College. Should I do it or should I just go to University at Buffalo for a year and then transfer to Stony Brook?
Just got rejected from stony brook…
32 ACT (35E, 31M, 27R, 35S)
3.4 GPA (2.8 fresh and soph, 4.0 junior and senior)
6 years varsity tennis (1st place sections, 8th place states)
In-State
Like what??? Lol
I’m so sorry, however I’ve read great things about Buffalo. Another poster on the buffalo ‘23 (I’ve seen you there) board describes his recent visit and how he was extremely impressed. I’ve been watching the boards as I have a junior who will be going through this in a few months. Best of luck to you! I hope you will post down the road so I can see how you like wherever you end up!
I still haven’t gotten an email or any changes to my Solar. Should I be worried?
Don’t worry… check for the ‘New Students’ option in the ‘Home’ tab of your SOLAR, just incase you missed it. If its not there, then I advise you to wait until the morning of 2nd April and then check your SOLAR again. If still no changes appear then call the Undergrad office. Don’t worry! All the best for your decision!
I need advise from people on this forum. My son(NJ state) a premed major just received acceptance from Stony Brook with Provostial scholarship which offers 4 years free tuition for out of state student. He was also accepted to Rutgers New Brunswick but with no money at all. The cost of attending Stony Brook is around $15k for room and board versus $30k for Rutgers. Tuition is not an issues but if Stony Brook and Rutgers are similar rated/ranked then attending Stony Brook has the added benefit of $15k savings. So my questions is is Stony Brook and Rutgers rated similarly?.
@futuredocml Congrats on the scholarship. For SBU, did your son get into one of the university honors program (such as Honors College or University Scholars)? My understanding is that acceptance to this program greatly enhances overall premed experience at SBU such as priority class registration, better access to undergrad research, and strong premed counseling and peer advising. A good percentage of students in the honors programs are pre-med, which reflects overall student population there. Sorry I do not know Rutgers well.
