SUNY Stony Brook scholarship availability

My son received the Presidential scholarship at SUNY Buffalo-tuition, room, board, and books are all covered. Most likely he will go there. He aslo applied at Stony Brook. Any idea what kind/amounts of scholarship is available there? We've heard from U of Mich and U of Rochester and the amount we as parents would have to pay is astronomical.

Any chance he could get something good at Stony Book if he did so well at UB? He'd like to go for physics, (or possibly math)

SATs 2230
ACT 34
SAT 11 Physics 750
Math 790

EC's- All county, Area All State, All State, and All Eastern trumpet player
Track and cross country

My DD is currently in her 3rd year at UB also on the Pres scholarship. To my knowledge no other SUNY Uni has a comparable award. My D loves UB for what its worth, she is a ChemE major/math minor and has had many wonderful opportunities. She also got into U of Roch and they didn’t give enough merit. I’m familiar with Stony Brook but feel UB is a better all around campus/college experience. Don’t underestimate what a great deal this is.

He just found out he got the presidential Scholarship at Stony Brook. Tuition and comprehensive fees are covered, no room and board.

At this point, he’ll still go to UB. Unless his FA package has some good stuff but we haven’t gotten that.

Coscat, thank you for your input. The only reason we are looking for other options is because S is a runner and an excellent musician. UB has neither a track program or a good music department. It’s known as being quite poor actually.

Still, he will most likely go to UB since no equal offers have come through.
