SUNY UAlbany VS. SUNY UBuffalo

Hey! I need some help on deciding which school to go to. I got accepted into both and my intended major is accounting. Please supply me with some pros and cons on the school and which school is better for accounting/finance/business. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

@lornsea are you a prospective freshman or transfer student? Right now I am a prospective student waiting for the decision. I am also planning to major in business and I think that albany is a stronger school. Albany grads end up going to work at places such as samsung, apple, google, goldman sachs, and more! It’s a beautiful school and I am definitely planning to go if I get in. Congrats!

Do you have a direct admit to both business schools? Do you prefer either campus/environment?

DD had that choice too, and selected UB. She liked Amherst.

Buffalo is definitely preferable to Albany in most cases, especially for business.

^^^ I work in business in NYC and don’t think one is “definitely preferable” as compared to the other. As noted above, I’d go with the school where you prefer the environment/atmosphere assuming you have a direct admit to the b-school at both Albany and Buffalo.

Buffalo has a revitalized downtown with a hopping nightlife. But, the snow is a real thing there. The business school is strong. A lot of it is personal preference.

:))
Duff’s chicken wings are right off campus on Sheridan Dr. Those will warm you up if it gets too cold!

My dd from Southern California attended and graduated from UB. The snow wasn’t an issue for her as she traipsed around campus in her Rainbow sandals. They plowed the campus before the students were out and about. She loved North and South campus. The bus picked up from the Red Jacket dorms.

PLEASE SEND DUFF’S to Southern California!!! There is nothing like them!

You just may see a DUFF’s in SoCal
You can now purchase a DUFF’s franchise.

Thank you!! I’m going to be a freshman next year! I hope you get in as well! Im just curious to see if the programs between the two schools are really that different because I know a lot of people who love UA @joeyl11

@LBad96 is the difference between the two schools really distinct? Like is one clearly better than the other or is it for the most part on the same platform?

@happy1 yeah i just wanted to know if the difference between the two schools’ accounting programs would affect me greatly in the future or if they’re for the most part on the same platform and it’s more of which college I like better environment wise

People tend to do their best in the environment where they feel comfortable and happy. Go to the school that makes you feel that way.

Buffalo seems to be a bit better than Albany in general, so I’d say Buffalo. Although they are both good choices
