In the supplement of some colleges, instead of writting a supplement essay, they ask us to provide a "sample essay" which was written in 10th or 11th grade. I wonder if this applys to internationals too, because our essays in the past are probably written in our own country's language.

Do we still have to submitt it with translation? I'm confused, Help!

The college wants to see how well you can write in ENGLISH. so if your original essay was in Chinese then it's probably a good idea to write the supplement essay.

Essay samples???
I hav never heard or came across that term in any supplement...Neway.....
As far as I know, they r for US students...(I m not sure!!)...better ask the college then......

uh..well we don't officially write "english essays", and more over, the english level that is taught in china is even easier than the american elementary schools. I can write good essays, but we didn't have such assignment. On the other hand, I have a lot excellent chinese essays with teacher's comment.

I have seen this requirement for a sample before, and I don't think it necessarily has to be from an English class. It could be an essay written for your Physics or Biology class, in fact any essay is permissible as long as it was done as part of your schoolwork, was checked by your teacher and needless to mention was written in English.

I don't study in an international school, for other subjects, My essay can't be in English...well but i heard that for international students, the sample essay doesn't need to be graded, we just have to write an essay especially for that college and have the teacher commented on it, in order to compare to the others in the class, but yet...the topic, not sure what should it be
