SUPA Credit

I am taking 4 SUPA classes at my high school.. they're like AP but there are taught through adjunt professors trained by Syracuse University. These courses are taught throughout many high schools in NYS. Does anyone know if NEU acepts their credit?

SUPA = Syracuse University Project Advance

It would probably depend on what kind of grades you got in those classes. More than likely, you would need to have fairly high marks in them for Northeastern to even consider giving you credit. It probably would have looked better if you had taken subject tests or ap tests along with the classes for them to see how well the classes have truly prepared you.

I've gotten high marks.. and I disagree... AP are college PREP classes... SUPA are COLLEGE classes... the only thing about AP is it shows that you can take a test and I hate that because you bomb the test, thats it, no credit for you. With SUPA, you do well in the class, you get a high grade.

also, the way you get credit for ap's is how you score on the tests, not just for taking the class. so in theory you could take the ap at the end of the year and its the same thing.

OP, I don't know the answer re: SUPA classes but my son who is a current Freshmen at NEU took Comm. College classes and the credit transferred in. He had to send course catalogues/descriptions, etc. If/when you are accepted to NEU you will get all kinds of mail. Somewhere there will be a letter from the academic advising people in your proposed major. You call them, ask the question, and they tell you what to send in or do to try to get credit.

Our son who is also a freshman got AP credit for some classes, but not others, based on his major and whether the score was 4 or 5. We were also told that he could receive credit for courses taken at our local cc this summer if they match up with courses taught at NEU. Your academic advisor can go over everything with you and if you go to the revisit or new student orientation, you can ask one of the admissions staff.

If you went to Syracuse, would they offer you college credit for these SUPA classes? If so, and you can get that in writing from Syracuse, you may be able to get credit from NEU.
