Hi everyone, I am a psychology major in community college who hopes to transfer to UCSC (because it is close to me) and eventually medical school for Psychiatry.
I plan to apply UCLA, UCSD, and UCB as well. However, all the requirements for my major are super different at these schools.
UCB requires a computer science class and a lot more science courses that I haven’t took,
While with UCLA I have to take 3 more math classes which I didn’t realize as they are not required for UCSC.
I wasn’t very prepared when I first got to my CC, so I have mostly done all my general ed and all of the main psychology courses for the major.
What I haven’t done is my science like biology, chemistry, the higher math courses (which I JUST found out I had to take) I know it’s stupid but I never really had anyone to teach me about college, so I was not super prepared with my schedule and classes. I only really considered going to UCSC, but now that I’m wanting to apply these other places now that I might move… I have to fill their pre requisites as well?
They are literally all completely different major required courses… I don’t know if it is worth it to take all these extra chemistry, physics and calculus classes just to apply at another school I am interested in. For example, UCSD I most likely won’t be able to attend, and it is the only school that requires me to take a computer science class for psychology transfers.
I’ve never heard anyone talk about this so I’m just wondering. It might be a super silly question! If so, I don’t really see this as a problem, it is just that I am going to be attending my community college for longer than I anticipated for extra classes that may not even be needed for the ultimate school I choose.
Thanks for reading.
