I’m wondering if anyone else has found the Super Match tool frustrating and inaccurate.
Do some colleges pay to be listed higher on the “match” because often the far reach private schools are listed higher on the list than the more realistic schools. Also if a GPA or test score is higher than the average, meaning it might be something to consider as a match or as a safety, it is listed as less than 100% match. Am I using the tool and searching the wrong way?
Where do they get their stats? Some of the don’t seem accurate. For instance,
UCLA is listed as having an average unweighted GPA of 4.0 yet at our HS, the average (on the same site) is 3.90.
UC Berkeley is listed as having average unweighted GPA of 3.88 and also shows an average of 3.90 at our HS (the same as UCLA).
UC Davis is also listed as having an average unweighted GPA of 4.0 (the same as UCLA and higher than UCB)
USC and Stanford seem closely aligned to the stats from our HS.
I understand that each HS is different but I think it is odd for any school to have an AVERAGE unweighted GPA of 4.0. Does that mean that 100% of the kids going there have a 4.0? We all know that isn’t true.
Please tell me if there is a better way to search to yield more accurate results.
