Hi, I have moved high schools five times and because of my moves my high schedule has been ruined! I am taking junior classes, such as Pre-Calculus, Honor Physics, as a senior. I do not regret moving so much, as it has taught me a lot, but now I cannot aim for my dream colleges as they are beyond me. However, a good thing is that I came to US in third grade from Russia; and unlike in US, Russians do not have a cutout date for kids. Since I was born on December 26th, 1993, I should be a junior anyway in US, since ALL of my friends born in December were affected by the cutout date and are juniors while I am a senior. I want to go to high school one more year, so I can take more SATs, have more time to prepare for them, assimilate in my age group and take more challenging classes. By going an extra year in high school, I won't be affected much, as I will graduate when I am 18, which is the average age for high school graduates. I am also willing to pay money to my school for my extra year--anyway, my parents pay too much in taxes, as we have a total household income greater than $300K. What I am thinking of doing is to not fill my high school graduation requirements by delaying them for next year. And since I am moving to a new high school, I can pretend to be a junior, which will be easy as I should be a junior anyway, according to the cutout policy. Please tell me your opinions, however, I am definitely going to follow through with this or else my future is ruined.

Since your family is high income, why not consider a post graduate year at a prep school. It’s exactly what you want, a chance to have a fifth high school year, build your resume, retake SATs and get superb college advising.
