When I first saw Samus, I had no idea that she was a girl either since she is in a metal suit of armor.

Samus is a girl! Sheās Master Chiefās love interest <3

Nintendo planned it that way; in original Metroid game, the player was supposed to find out her gender as a surprise for beating the game.

Marth looks rather girlish, though. And I have no idea why Captain Falcon (in Melee) has a bright pink suit.

^Hahaha. We used to call him Gay Falcon (Not as a way to insult anyone. A gay friend of mine came up with the title actually).

Also, if you notice, the Capt Falcon in Melee with the red suit has a Skull on his back.

Oh, another character I like (Iām pretty fickle when it comes to characters other than Kirby, actually) is Ganondorf. Heās like Captain Falcon, but heavier. And his āRRRAAAAHHHHHRRRRRā is more intimidating than Capt. Falconās intelligibleness.

I remember watching a viral video of some nerd playing Super Smash Bros (donāt know which one) attempting to jump with Princess Peach, pause, and look up her dress/skirt. It had to have been the most pathetic thing I have ever seen.

^ LOL. Sad thing is, Iāve actually done that.

I like how on Brawl the audience chants- gotta love āSnakeā¦ Snakeā¦ SNAAAAAKE!ā

Yo, we totally should have a CC brawl tournament for all those who have it.

^That would actually be awesome, and would give me an incentive to play Brawl.

I played it a few times at my churchā¦ Since by doing nothing but repeatedly hit buttons I beat numerous self-styled āexpertsā, I pretty much dismissed SSB as having any strategy whatsoever.

Man, Iāve been addicted to Melee for the longest time. The beauty of it is that it acts as both a casual party game AND a hardcore competitive game, depending on how much time you put into it. I canāt count how many hours Iāve spent watching the pros play on Youtube (yes, I actually took notes over their videos ā thatās how nerdy I am). Even been to a couple of pro-circuit tournaments. Wasted hours upon hours learning all the advanced techniques (wavedashing, dash dancing, SHFFLing, JC shining, etc). I canāt even begin to describe how obsessed I am.

And then Brawl came out. One of the biggest disappointments of my life. They nerfed all the advanced techniques (no wavedashing, no shinespiking, useless dash dances, etc.), made it so that edge-guarding doesnāt exist, and allowed every character to live past 150% with mediocre DI. Everything about it discourages competitive play (I mean sure, there are a few techs like Pikachuās up B canceling or DLX canceling, but nothing on Meleeās level). Hell, they even got rid of L-canceling. Even Smash64 allowed Z-canceling. Also, thereās nothing but Metaknights, Snakes, Diddies, and Ice Climbers (who can kill you with one grab) in the tournaments ā no diversity at all. Worst game ever.

/end rant

^Didnāt understand a single thing you said in the 2nd paragraph except for the last 3 words.

^^Wow Yale people play Smas Bros? ;P

Why is that so surprising? Excluding Brawl, how could anyone NOT play the best game franchise ever? (Yeah, thatās right, better than Starcraft, Halo, Mario, Zelda, and COD).

The Ascendancy- I understood every word.

My favorite game is the 64 version because the characters are the most balanced and anyone can be good with any character. My personal character is Yoshi. Yes, I know he is a mid-tier character and a little on the slow side, but his spike in the 64 is unstoppable if done properly (I can do it properly) and amounts to a one hit kill even with no damage. He has some other moves such as the aerial down smash (56% when done properly) and standing down smash which are also excellent. The only character that has a better spike in my opinion is DK. I believe Fox takes the least amount of skill to master with Kirby being second. Iām sorry, but Link and Samus are bad characters.

I like Melee because it kept all of the important aspects of 64, added more characters, and sped up the game play. The only reason I like this game less than than the 64 version because it has some truly bad characters such as Pichu and it is less balanced. It seems in brawl that the same character always win out while in the original, anyone can win.

Brawl is just bad.

pramirez184, yes! A fellow competitive smasher!

Yeah, 64 is the most balanced, but my beef with the game as a whole is that DI is so much less refined than it is in Melee. Some combos are simply inescapable ā Isai vids are essentially nothing but 0-death combos. And Fox has some technical aspects (that shine canceling stuff is INSANE). I think Pikachuās also extremely broken in 64. And it seems Link always sucks (in all 3 versions).

I prefer Melee not only because itās faster, but itās arguably more complex than 64. I mean, the number of advanced techs basically tripled and DI became so much more technical (SDI, double-stick DI, etc.). Not to mention, you have some techs like wavedashing that completely separate the casual gamer from the competitive player. And Iāll take you up on your claim that itās not balanced. I agree that itās less balanced than 64 is, but the beauty of Melee is that the metagame still isnāt fully developed. Way back when in the dark ages, Marth and Sheiks dominated tournaments. Then the spacies came onto the scene and became top tiers. And now floaties are coming into the picture (Puffs like Mango, Darc, Sliq and Peaches like Armada). As time goes on, Melee is becoming ever more balanced ā itās just that not everythingās been discovered yet.

And Iām glad someone else understands just how bad Brawl is.
