Super Yawn!

How do you guys stay awake during the whole test??? How do you not get bored and/or distracted? By time the third section, my eyes are darting of in all directions (probably because the test rooms are SOOO interesting and they have all sorts of illustrations and posters! Or by time the middle of the test, im ready for my daily nap which would generally be third period... how do you deal with all this? Even on the easy subject test, i found myself falling asleep and getting distracted.

Erm… sleep the night before. Keep doing practice tests under exam conditions and you’ll get used to it, I suppose…

How can you fall asleep on a test that is going to affect your future and that you only have limited opportunities to take?

Actually I have to agree with the poster part. My last test (coincidentally my first) was taken in a room where color pictures of unicorns, bears, ponies, and bunnies (and I kid you not when I say this) were all over the place, decorated with colorful pink ribbons and stars.

It was the Spanish teacher’s room…

It’s about time someone recognized.

lol @ ^

notice how his/her CC Member account is same as the thread topic (“yawn”)

I don’t usually have a problem with boredom or distraction.

I’d suggest practicing meditation, if that kind of thing doesn’t frighten you :p

On the subject of posters, I was kind of distracted because when I took the test last week, it was in my Calculus room and I coincidentally sat right next to the Laker posters that I myself put up in the class lol.

If you guys think that the length of the SAT is based on nothing, I can guarantee it’s not. There’s empirical data saying that the longest time an average person can focus is around 4 hours. This means that you should be able to take the SAT in one sitting without getting overly fatigued…

^

ugh, not me. i have enough trouble with one-hour tests.
i swear, i think the teachers do it on purpose; only the rooms where we are allowed to take the SATs are overly posted an distracting, but i guess i’ll just try to stay focused on the proctor then

Try to do many practice tests in exactly 4 hours! Keep your eyes on your booklet ONLY! When you take the actual test, let the world go on without you =)) =))
You are only distracted/bored when you are not enough familiar with the time condition.

When I took the SAT, it was in the History room. Which was nice, because there where a ton of historical quotes to use for my essay. :)

I keep taking my SAT at the crappy cross town school, so there’s nothing on the walls. That’s not my choice though
