Superbad

It'll be interesting to see by how much the # of applicants and the acceptance rate is influenced by this movie. Both numbers will obviously be distorted due to the abnormal number of 08ers, but it should be fun to see how many misled kids apply to Dartmouth.

^ True. I hope they dont go in for ED though :D

Don't worry, I am. ;)

Yeah... this has been a worry of mine. Dartmouth has been getting quite a name for itself (more than normal) after the presidential debates and superbad. I know this is gonna kill my chances!

Every Dartmouth applicant I meet is going for ED. dang!

Apparently Dartmouth is referenced a lot in the show Gossip Girl as well.

huhuh? As if Superbad wasn't enough.

They should have done this for Duke.
I thought Dartmouth got enough positive attention from Animal House.
Duke will have an increase in apps for class of 2013 with style though, by winning the NCAA tournament this March. :D

I haven't seen Superbad yet or Gossip Girl. What are some of the references they make?

I wonder if what they say about the school is accurate or not.

In Superbad, two of the main characters were headed off to Dartmouth for college.
Gossip Girl, I'm not sure.

I love Superbad. Omg.

Superbad was GREAT. For Dartmouth references, two of the main characters were best friends. One got into Dartmouth and it was his dream school, the other was not accepted. Their friend also got into Dartmouth so they talked about it quite a bit. It does not give a very positive or negative image of Dartmouth. Watching it would not lead you to believe anything about the school.

Gossip Girls, I heard of the Dartmouth references in this show and of course, because I apparently am obsessed with dartmouth, had to check it out. The father of one of the main characters is a Dartmouth graduate and is pushing Dartmouth on his son. Also another character really wants to go to Dartmouth. It's kind of funny because the dartmouth graduate is a cokehead. But the image that this show give Dartmouth, is that it is a very affluent school and very prestigious.

I guess I am a little worried about the flood of applicants which Dartmouth will receive from this publicity, however, don't be too concerned. I am sure that the majority of the people who would be persuaded to apply, simply because of seeing the school in their favorite movie or tv show are not competitive applicants anyways.
