Post your prediction of the superbowl champions
Patriots - They took a while to get on track, but now are one of the strongest teams in the NFL. In the postseason, everyone steps it up, and they are unbeatable, especially in OT. Vinaterri sp? is the best kicker ever, and is the best under pressure.

Pats. Pats.

Massachusetts is the best. Well, in football and baseball. Other sports ... eh. Bruins is good too.

Yea, and just dont count basketball a sport, the Celtics are doing horrible this year.

Haha, that's why I said "other sports ... eh."

Basketball ain't too great any year. The years of Larry Bird are long gone. Bostoners have accepted that sad fact.

It seems that most think it's going to be Colts over Eagles.

But I have faith. With Vinaterri(honestly, how do you spell his bloody name), anything is possible. In his game mode it's like an automatic insured 3 points. Oddly, when he's not under pressure, he's screwed up on EASY EASY kicks. But in pressure mode, he's like GodMode on Starcraft.

Eagles aren't even in the playoffs.

Colts.....maybe Pittsburg

wraider you're right :)

I just posted what was on the predictions page from Yahoo!. Link at bottom of top page. Guess they were way off.

This is just my speculation...

Colts over Steelers, Pats over Broncos. Colts over Pats, mostly because Brady will suffer without his cold-weather home field advantage. For Vinatieri to have any impact on the game, the Pats offense would have to keep pace with Manning and the Colts until late, which I don't think they can do.

Seahawks over Skins, Bears over Panthers. Bears over Seahawks, because the Bears D will smother Alexander and Hasselbeck.

Colts over Bears in the Superbowl.

All I can say is....GOOOOO COLTS!

I'm sticking with the same prediction I've had for the last 8 weeks...Pats over Seahawks. To say Brady will "suffer" in Indy's dome is ridiculous; Brady has been the best quarterback in the league this year, and he only plays half of his games at home.

I'd have to say I think the Colts will win. But I'd much prefer the Panthers to go all the way, just as I would have preferred them to win 2 years ago. One can hope I guess.

I think the Colts will win, because they have more motivation at this point (I hate to say it, but because the coach's son committed suicide, it just seems that they would really have the dedication to want to win not only for themselves, but especially for that purpose). So I think the Colts will have more heart, although no doubtedly both teams will want the win.

With that said....GO REDSKINS!

I'd pick the Pats over the Colts if the game was in Foxboro, since Brady is probably the best cold-weather quarterback ever - but in the RCA Dome, without that advantage, I can't see the Pats beating the Colts. Just looking at the offensive skill player matchups (Manning vs. Brady? James vs. Dillon? Harrison/Wayne/Stokley v. Branch/Givens/Brown?) and you'll see that the Colts would have a clear advantage in a shootout, especially with superiority at WR.

Defensively it'll be interesting to see if the healthy Pats D would be able to stop Manning the second time around, but with Bruschi maybe hurt and a secondary that's still kinda questionable...I don't think so. With a patched up Pats O-Line though, maybe the Colts front 4 would be able to get through and do some damage.

Not that I'd count the Pats out by any means, considering their incredible playoff success in the past few years. It would be an interesting game to watch if the matchup presents itself.

Disagree, I think Denver beats the Pats, and the Colts, but loses to the Seahawks in the SB.

[quote=scarletleavy] But I'd much prefer the Panthers to go all the way, just as I would have preferred them to win 2 years ago.

Steve Smith is a bad@$$, because he's a former Utah Ute, along with Jordan Gross (OT for Panthers)....but I think the Bears will basically laugh Carolina off the field this weekend. Sorry.

Steve Smith is my hero. He's like the little engine that really really really really really really really really really could.

311Griff, why Broncos over Pats?

Broncos are tough at home, they beat the Pats earlier this year...they are rested, and their Defense is damn good--Watson gets smoked on the TD he scored against the Jags...John Lynch and Champ Bailey would have none of that! The Pats have been playing well, but they won't be able to stop Tatum Bell, Mike Anderson, and Ron Dayne.... You can't underestimate the advantage a team has when they have 3 different style running backs and a really good "running" offensive line.

"Manning vs. Brady?"

I don't see how this is anything but even. Brady's numbers were incredible this year, especially given the fact that he has done it without a running game.

I'll concede that Manning vs Brady is pretty much even, especially in a big playoff game where Brady thrives. Despite a difference in experience level and Brady's ability to become the reincarnation of God during the two-minute drill, Manning will still play well in this game because of the sheer beastlyness of the Indy offense, and because of his consistently top-notch performances throughout the year (look at the two Indy losses - Manning was decent in the San Diego game, and didn't play in the Seattle game).

I still think the Pats can beat the Broncos at Mile High. You can't really compare this game to the one earlier this year because the Pats are a lot healthier now, especially on defense - I don't see them giving up 28 points again, no matter how many running backs Denver has. The healthy Pats D is great against the run and, I dunno, I still don't have confidence in Jake Plummer not screwing up big games with a bunch of turnovers. =
