Superbowl predictions

I honestly think Jake Plummer has arrived. He had very few turnovers this season. In fact the Broncos are plus 14 or so? in the turnover department. The reason I think the Broncos win is their Defensive line, and Champ Bailey, John Lynch, Al Wilson, and Ian Gold. Denver's defense is a big game defense, period. I don't think Denver will run away from the Pats, but they will beat 'em. The only player who would change my prediction is injured, and that's Rodney Harrison.

I think it will be the panthers vs the colts. Brady and the pats are good this year but their run ends I think. I may be wrong but thats how I see it. I don't see New England's secondary stopping Marvin, Reggie (GO UM) and stokely. Oh yea they got that edgerrin(UM again) fella too in the backfield. too much weapons.

Just to clarify since the OP said that Vinatieri is the best kicker of all time, I would like to point out that Mike Vanderjagt is the best kicker of all time based purely on statistics. Vinatieri is just hyped.

Icer, you and jimmyeatworld are overlooking denver... the team who crushed San Diego @ San Diego, just two weeks removed from San Diego taking out Indianapolis with Peyton Manning playing. This is a different Denver team than past playoffs, but I'll let this weekend speak for itself.

Seeing as how the Pats won all three Superbowls on last minute FGs by Vinny, I'd say his "hype" is deserved.

Denver can be ok, if Jake Plummer doesn't throw 5 picks. Also, there is no transitive property of football. Even if the Broncos beat the Pats, they can't beat the Colts.

See, my point exactly. He just kicked 3 field goals. No one counts any that he missed or any that he made/missed in the regular season. It wasn't just him, the team just couldn't get in the endzone. If it came down to it, and I had to choose a kicker for any field goal that is set up right now, I'd take Vanderjagt.

Vanderjagt - 217/248 FGs 87.5% 344/346 PAT 99.4%
Vinatieri - 263/321 FGs 81.9% 367/374 PAT 98.1%
There is no kicker statistically better than Vanderjagt... ever...

I think this year will be a total surprise. I will put money on Chicago. I think they will win it because of their great defense. There offense could be better though, and they will be by the time they get to the superbowl, which I hope they will make.

The patriots won 5/10 titles by 3 points. Everytime a game is on the line, Vinaterri connects. He kicked ones from the 52 yard line, and ones through snow vs. the Raiders. I dont care if earlier this season he missed a fieldgoal and the Patriots won/lost by more than 10.

have you watched Denver this year at all? They lost 3 games all season, and Jake Plummer's stats were like this:

3,366 yrds, 18 TD's to only 7 interceptions (7 less than Brady mind you)

Additionally, Denver's defense is better in all categories than New Englands (stats wise, and player wise, IMO). Your comment about the game riding on Jake Plummer (not throwing interceptions) just shows your lack of true information about just how lethal Denver is. I don't think I would count Denver out against the Colts either.... for 2 reasons:

Denver has been knocked out of the playoffs by the Colts the past few times they've gone. So they have a huge chip.

Denver matches up well with Indy.... very balanced offense, and great run/pass defense.

I'm not saying Jake Plummer didn't have a good season. Just note every other season before this one.

Yep, but I'm telling you that it will be Denver's defense that makes winning really tough for New England.

I have Denver to beat NE. They just can't beat the Colts.

denver will beat NE. No doubt about it. I will bet 1,000,000 Turkish Lira on that.

^^ why can't they beat the colts? Is that a fact, or just you saying that in hope that they don't cause it messes up your betting pool?

Seattle- 30
Indy- 21
