Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious :)

Hi! Thanks for checking this out and helping me out!!!

I am a rising Senior at a suburban public high school that does pretty well in college admissions.
GPA is 4.5 out of 5.3 (my school only does weighted)
Class rank is 26 out of 520.
SAT scores at this point in time: Math 650, Writing 670, and CR 740, but I plan on retaking them.
Subject tests are Lit: 680 and World history: 710.

I also just took the ACT so I am waiting for that score.

EC:
I am the Editor-in-Chief of my school newspaper and have been an Editor of it since my freshman year (Opinions Editor, Copy Editor, then Editor-in-Chief)

I am the Founder/President of the Model United Nations club at my school.

I am the President of the Midnight Run club, a club that distributes food and clothing to those without homes in New York City and the surrounding area.

I went on a pioneer trip to China with 12 other students as well as hosted 2 Chinese girls in my home.

I am also a member of other various clubs. Also, I have run one season of track and one season of cross country, and I have been participating in cheerleading since the end of my sophomore year.

Community Service:
Besides the Midnight Run, I have volunteered for about 25 hours at a place in my town called El Centro Hispano, a place for people of Hispanic people of my area to come and recieve help in getting a job or a home, among other things.
I also volunteered in the Dominican Republic for a week at an orphanage through an organization called Orphanage Outreach.

Family History:
I come from a middle-class Caucasian family. My father went to George Washington University and my mom went to SUNY Stony Brook. My mom went to Pace University for law school and my dad went to the George Washington graduate school of political management.

Thank you for your help!
Schools I'm interested in:
Swarthmore (ED)
GW (ED2 if i don't get into Swarthmore)
Tufts
Brown
Davidson
SUNY Geneseo
Princeton
Emory

My recs and my essay should also be very good.

At least one other student with a better rank than me is also applying to Swarthmore ED.

What are my chances?

Thanks for trying to chance me
I'm very interested in international relations - are there any other schools that you would suggest considering my interests and my stats?

What are some safety options for me?

Thanks again!

I forgot to mention I will definetely chance you if you chance me!

I am sorry for the ridiculous of my title by the way...and I apologize that I am pretty much talking to myself!

Please chance me :)!!!!

I dont know too much bout some of these schools but heres wat I think...

Big Reach: Princeton, Brown
Reach: Tufts, Emory,
Match/In: SUNY, GW, Davison

thanks for your help!

I'd definitely retake those SATs. Princeton has a microscopic acceptance rate from what I'm told, so that's a huge reach. Nice ECs. I'd work on class rank.

Thanks for chancing me.

I am not really that interested in Princeton...Brown is the only Ivy I really have interest in. My top choice, and what I really am nervous about is Swarthmore...anyone know enough about it to chime in with some advice?

Thanks for the help everyone!

You should definitely find a GPA calculator online and recalculate your grade according to the 4.0 scale - that's what colleges will do.

The Ivies, as it stands, are incredible reaches.

Your leadership in EC's is great.
just work on pulling all components of the SAT up to 700 and you'll stand a good chance in all the school.
As of now, I agree with the predictions of others
chance me too :)

I would say Swarthmore ED is bit of a reach, but not out of the question. If it comes to it, you will definitely get into GW ED 2 (but you would also have a great shot in regular decision.)

bump (10 char)

if you're tat interested in political science, why not georgetown too? or duke? i dont know much about swarthmore but GW should be fine considering your legacy. good luck!

chance me backkk
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/568714-stern-ed-others-o.html

After talking to m guidance counselor, I decided that georgetown wasn't for me....also, in terms of why swarthmore for political science, swarthmore has one of the top programs for foreign affairs for a small liberal arts school

bmp (10 char)

If you're not really interested in Princeton, why not drop it from your list? That's one less supplemental essay to write.

My aunt went there and really wants me to apply.

I would say retake the SATs (specially SAT subjects) if you are serious about Brown and princeton otherwise you should be fine for other schools you've listed.

^The OP wouldn't have time to retake both in time to do ED (October testing deadline).

If you don't wind up doing the ED route, you could give them another try, but it's nothing worth seriously stressing about.

Prob in
Swarthmore (ED)
GW (ED2 if i don't get into Swarthmore)
Davidson
SUNY Gene

Slight Reach
Tufts
Emory

Reach
Brown

High Reach
Princeton

thanks....in regards to previous comments, I cannot retake the SAT IIs due to ED deadline but I am retaking SAT and am waiting to hear from an ACT score so hopefully those will improve my chances. I really love Swarthmore but am so nervous that I won't get in...another student from my school with a better ranking and gpa is also applying so this prob lowers my chances considerably...however, i know that i would be happy at gw too....okay i am done ranting :)
