Superscore ACT?

D originally got a 28 on the Sept test (which was sent to all of her colleges), and she just got back her Oct score which was a 27. Her superscore would be a 29. Do we send out this latest score as well? Even though the composite is now lower? Does Pitt superscore the ACT?

I can’t find a primary source (i.e., link to a document on pitt.edu) that says Pitt superscores ACT, but I think there are enough secondary sources that say so to safely condlude that they do. As to whether 29 vs. 28 will make a difference in admissions, I don’t know. If either the math or English subscores is somewhat better on the second test, I probably would send it.

Thanks :)

Math went from 25 to 26
Science went from 25 to 28
English went from 33 to 27 :0
Reading went from 28 to 26
Essay went from 8 to 9

D is calling admissions at her schools to find out. We’re not sure if it’s worth sending…

It’s good that she’s calling. It’s always best to get it from the horse’s mouth, if the horse is willing to talk.

The most recent common data set for Pitt is 2010-11 (class of 2014). Your D’s composite and English are squarely in the middle 50% of admissions. The 25 in math was the 25th percentile, so it might be worth the $10 to move her off the bottom of the middle 50. It’s also possible that the middle 50 shifted up last year and the additional point could move her out of bottom quarter back into the middle 50. Hopefully, admissions will be forthcoming.

Thanks for the advice, Steve. My D’s only concern is that the new composite is lower and that her English score is so much lower. Will they think she’s inconsistent?

NY Mom- that 26 math score is important for one thing Pitt cares about the math sub score and for another she will need 26 to be exempt from the algebra placement test.

I think Pitt does superscore the ACT so I would say send in the new scores.

D called Pitt and they do superscore. Thanks for the info about the math placement test paMom…We did send in the new scores.
