Question! My D took her SAT first time around last Fall (junior). First sitting produced a perfect verbal and much lower math. She studied math all summer and retook. This time around math score was great. Verbal great too but 10 points lower than first attempt. No complaints at all but submitted scores from second attempt to all schools even those who superscore thinking one sitting would be better option. D is unwilling to show lower math score from first attempt and believes it will negatively impact her from an admissions standpoint. For comparison math score came up 100 plus points on second attempt. Any insight? Not sure it makes any difference.
Submit both. It’s good to show the improvement – it won’t be looked at as a negative. Schools know that it’s a test you can study for and so it shows a great commitment toward improving your weak areas.
I think sending the second one alone is fine, unless the school requires that all scores be sent.
Well the second one should have a higher overall number. No one cares between a 790 and 800.(this isn’t a make or break because when you get your scores, they give you a range) 800= 770-800 as possible scores.
Question:Perfect Reading score??? How did she prep?
For schools that do superscore, submit both definitely. They don’t care if you take it once or twice. Why loose that 10 points? For schools that accept score choice, they don’t care if you take it once or more either as they cannot tell anyway.
No prep for verbal actually besides PSAT which was 740. Always been a big reader.
