Anyone know if USC uses the superscore in evaluating applicants?? Or any top school for that matter? I hear a lot of talk about it but never heard a school actually say they use it (except Pepperdine).

Thanks

Yes, USC uses superscore. Ditto for most top privates. In fact, the UC's and other public schools are the only ones I've heard of that don't superscore.

my superscore is 10 points higher than my highest score. grrrrrrr :(

my superscore is 30 points higher...lol

i hate you so much. those extra 20 points would have given me a 2100. oh well. i got a 32 on the act with my two highest scores in math and science (i applied for engineering) so sat really doesn't matter for me anyways.

haha, even without those 20 extra points, your SAT score still blows me away...by 90...dang, well theres always january, and prayers hahaha

What about superscoring the ACT? The sat superscore moves me from 2250=>2310, but an ACT superscore would move me from a 33=>35 >_< anyone know?

yeah i think they superscore ACT. on the scholarship description it says the presidential and trustee scholarships go to applicants who score in the top 1-2% in the nation on SAT and ACT. is this a strict guideline, or is it just a common factor in most students who are otherwise qualified for the big sholarships?

also, what is considered the top 1-2% for SAT? i know my ACT score (32) is in the top 1% (i was surprised myself), but i'm curious if i would have made it on my SAT alone.

What's superscore?

^best combination of sat sections i'm assuming.

My superscore was 60 points higher. Lucky me!

Yep, they take your highest from each individual section, even if it's from different sittings.

The latter.

According to wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAT), 2150 is top 2%, 2200 is top 1%. I assume that's for a single sitting.

sfgiants, you're like our own personal flopsy (from ucla board) but not as nerdy...i'm assuming :)

Lucky. My superscore was the same as my first single-setting score. :(

^^^Me too. I was really upset that I couldn't break 2200. But I guess it's better since I'm applying to UCs that my highest scores are all in one sitting.

Didn't know 2150 is top 2%. On this forum, that seems awfully generous, lol.

hahaa no.. sfgiant's way more open-minded than Flopsy.

Flopsy shots down anyone with a "reach" if he/she is borderline in one area statistically.

Flopsy is pretty darn accurate, though.

hah, I suppose I should take that as a sign that I'm spending too much time on here. If/when I find a girlfriend, you guys will be out of luck. ;)

Yes, but UCLA is also a lot more formulaic than USC, so they are less likely to appreciate unusual cases.

What is a flopsy anyway? Is it a noun, adjective, adverb?

Flopsy can't be accurate in predicting chances.

He can only TRY to hint to you what kinda colleges you should be looking at by comparing your statistics to what he knows and what the websites say.

There's many things beyond his knowledge. For example, he hasn't read your essays, doesn't know the reputation of your school....

And last of all, he can't predict the mood of admission officers when they review your application.

Btw, I think Flopsy is a common pet name for bunnies. Haven't you ever heard of "The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies" by Beatrix Potter?

Gosh did you all spend your kindergarden years Studying SAT's?!! :)

i was more a fan of Bunnicula.

mine is 70 pts higher..2170 compared to 2100
