Let’s say I took the new sat and did really good on my writing section. Would you advise me to not take the sat with writing the next time so that I can focus on the other two sections? Will colleges superscore both new sats?
For colleges that require the writing and also superscore the new SATs, I have not seen any stated policy yet on what they do if you submit one with and one without writing. Moreover, if it is like the ACT has been in the past, few will ever tell you what they actually do unless you specifically ask because they do not put it on their websites. However, based on what colleges have done in the past when you submitted an ACT with writing and one without, and the colleges also superscored ACT, some of thos used the combined tests to do so and some ignored the one without writing. Thus, you should not assume that just because a college superscores it will actually use a test without writing to do so. In other words, unless you are prepared now to specifically request an answer to your question from every college to which you intend to apply, you likely should not risk avoiding the SAT writing section if colleges on your list require the writing section
Thanks!

Some schools will not even consider an SAT sitting if it is taken without writing. (Princeton, for example) Make sure you check your school’s policies about writing.
