For the question that says explain why you are applying to a particular school at Rice, I am very interested in doing a double major (math econ analysis & sport management) but they are in 2 different schools. Can i talk about both schools or can I only talk about one. thanks for any responses in advance.

I think what Rice means by “school of study” is the actual area(s) of study that you are interested in. Don’t treat this like the the engineering department or the English department will be the ones reading the essay. Just explain why you are so interested in the subjects that you are pursuing.

Oh okay. Also, does anyone know how long this essay is supposed to be?

I asked this question in the Rice Class of 2017 applicants thread and that was the response I got. I guess it’s kind of unclear and Rice probably gets plenty of both version. People have gotten in with both versions apparently so either email them or just write whichever you think you can do better.

Yea I doubt it matters that much. I talked more about the major than the school

Does anyone know how long this essay is supposed to be? It doesn’t say on the Supplement.

Don’t make it really long, but write what you need to write. Mine was about 200 words, IIRC.
